Bloody loved that, felt like I was right there with you. Good luck with it Jonny!
ОтветитьThis week My Mini Cooper (old 2010) had a defective coolant temp sensor ( I believed) causing fan to run constantly and poor starting; no fault codes on reader. Replaced sensor; the actual fault was not cured, and still no fault codes. Cleared the fault codes that weren't there; car runs fine. I assume that clearing codes is a reset whether or not your reader/app can read them? Worth trying tho!
ОтветитьVery interesting Jonny but on the alloys question I think you are wrong? Perfectly nice, on period and not 'overdesigned'
ОтветитьAs soon as I saw him turn the key to move the roof to get to the engine bay... I was like, "Oooooone..."
That was your 'first time'. Yes, the engine didn't crank, but you turned the key to where any electronics would be checking... stuff.
Immobiliser module problem that's why doesn't start up. Second hand one won't solve the problem as they coded to ECU and keys - I have been there myself! It's a Porsche dealer job approaching £1000. Good luck, I gave up on mine.
ОтветитьLike the Wheeler Dealer Jonny reg plate !
ОтветитьSo that’s where you hang your hat😂
ОтветитьI am very familiar with the emotions of exhilaration and depression that follow purchasing an older vehicle that keeps developing flaws as you drive home.
ОтветитьSomeone on reddit had this issue: "So it was having issues where it wasn’t turning over occasionally, especially when warm, but seemed to be good at a cold start up. We couldn’t figure it out. Tested the pressure of the fuel pump it appeared to hold the right amount of pressure. The key was loose in the ignition lock coil so we changed that just because that can cause issues. Put a new battery in the car. And changes the crank position censor. After all that it was still giving issues. And then it blew the fuel pump fuse. And we tested it again and sure enough it was the pump. So changed it and have had no issues since."
ОтветитьAbout $2,300 USD. Amazing, a boxter in that condition would be $8-10,000 in the States. Very poor condition, even salvage title / flood cars and non running or blown trans boxters go for much more. Cheapest I've seen with a quick marketplace search was asking $4500 for a non running pos. Very good buy. Why are classic and modern classic cars so cheap in England ?
Ответить1. umm.. I just saw one on marketplace for £995
2. boxster.
I would have bought that in a heartbeat, I drove one 20 years ago as a 22 yr old. lovely cars to drive. It was also a manual.
Try icar code readers, a bit pricey but its very good
Ahahahahahahha cooool
ОтветитьLove it and feel your stress as we picked up a 2000 in same color blue/blue top but tan interior for $15k but with 40k miles on it here in Alaska. My first Porsche too. Its a weird car to get to know but I love it so far. Not crazy fast but handling is sublime!!
Ответитьa Porsche... Will you make a video with an update on the MOT and your return journey?
ОтветитьShit happens
ОтветитьVery entertaining I'm invested!
Ответитьadvert,subscribe....getting annoying,can't watch in peace
ОтветитьThis Johnny guy is very awkward
ОтветитьLooks like a generic code reader you have - you're best off getting something like an Autel AP200 it'll read all codes including manufacturer specific codes and any pending codes.
ОтветитьReally appreciate the honesty of your videos Jonny. You are the one person I trust around cars. Looking forward to the follow up.
Ответитьroof loom, and too small old under power cheap battery is often electrical fault creators on these poss mice eating wires
ОтветитьSticky relay, solenoid, fuel pump, ign switch, immobiliser, ecu connector......
Ответить100% electrical
ОтветитьCan’t wait for part 2 of this one. Hope you get the gremlins sorted as this will be a brilliant car. 😍
ОтветитьSomeone need to ring the fashion police on these two fuckers lol
ОтветитьSounds like a camshaft/crankshaft position sensor, if the sensors don´t agree the car will sporadically not start.
ОтветитьMy bmw had the same issue with starting. It was a failed camshaft sensor.
ОтветитьWe bought a cheap working 2001 manual 986 Boxster S earlier this year, we've decided to strip it down and turn it into a GT cup car for the track. Full suspension and engine overhaul and make it as lightweight as possible.
ОтветитьThat hot start issue is a cheap fix - CRANKSHAFT POSITIONING SENSOR. £ 16,15 on AutoDoc
ОтветитьExcellent! Good luck! 😅
ОтветитьI was mildly terrified by the thought of a £1900 Boxster because I had experience working on numerous Porsches. However, you can tell from the service history that it was taken care of and that it is not an old snotter.
ОтветитьSo much fun coming up. Enjoy!
ОтветитьThat's Great Jonny BUT what about the ALLEGRO ????????????
ОтветитьThe seller in the video is dressed like my Dad in the 80’s
ОтветитьImmobiliser fault.
ОтветитьHow many people paused to see whether it was accurate you can’t pass an MOT with different tyres on the same axle to find it’s different sizes not different makes!
ОтветитьHang on a think I might recognise this format 😂
ОтветитьConvenience control unit. Mine flooded years ago and electrics went mental. Including effecting the immobiliser, windows, central locking etc went too.
ОтветитьWould be worth getting a rosstech vcds cable to run the proper diagnostics.
ОтветитьOne for a grand for sale near me at minute!
ОтветитьYou copying “Hoovies Garage” or what? 😂
ОтветитьOh man! when I eventually have a drive way (and a house 😅) I would one of these or something similar.
ОтветитьWill you do a series fixing and shining it up ?
ОтветитьWell done mate 🎉
ОтветитьIf she's got any trouble with the gearbox then first change the oil.👍
Ответить27 minutes video..... and you only managed to get it started 😂
ОтветитьIt’s basically a Beetle
