Matt that was very helpful and I appreciate it!!
ОтветитьBrooks = overpriced shit. point noted.
ОтветитьActually, there is no tension failure involved. This is more likely the effect of shear given the location of the failure. Tension failure would have caused necking in the rail and a significant elongation. The rather loose bolt in the front might have probably caused more fatigue, which should not have been the case with a good quality steel with good elasticity.
ОтветитьThanks for sharing this info, to be honest this sounds like bad quality material or there was something wrong with the seat post clamp / positioning, I am a heavy ass rider fluctuating between 90 kg to maximum 142 kg on the same bike same seat and no issue what so ever. even back in the days when I couldn't afford or have access to quality bikes and components this never happened to me or any of my friends. I honestly think Brooks should cover this under warranty, paying 90 USD to fix it damn that's one expensive saddle now.

ОтветитьDude, you should have immediately called or emailed Brooks. With their 151 year reputation, the may have done all the repairs thwmselves.
Ответить"It broke right at the saddle clamp, so it must be the tensioner's fault" Yeah.... no.
Ответитьyeah, i'm gonna concur with some of the others - the bolt isn't the reason the rails split. most likely blunt force trauma.
ОтветитьBrooks England have a 10 year guarantee if you sent it back they would have sorted it out for free
Ответить2021 , I broke my rails this week. I believe it was because I had it mounted at the extreme front of the rail. Nothing to do with tightening that bolt in my opinion. Thanks for sharing the video Matt Setter.
ОтветитьI've never tightened any of mine even one that is 34 years old. Oddly my 2 year old one broke this weekend so I wonder if it's something else going on.
