If a news program wants an “expert” to discuss issues that fit their anti-China/China downfall narrative, then they just ask Lawrence Summers to come onto their program.

As far as I know, the only countries where the birth rate has fallen below 1.0 and where emigration exceeds immigration are Ukraine and China. Based on the data, it seems that despite technological advancements, China is likely becoming a far more difficult place to live than we might imagine. In other countries, if the birth rate is low, immigration is usually high, and if emigration is high, the birth rate tends to be higher.

BS....The only ones seeing this as a zero-sum game are Americans and some western allies. Always depicting China as a threat and enemy to the world essentially. President Xi has stated more than once that they do not want to be a hemogenic power like the US. The CCP talks loudly about a multipolar world and sharing the pie basically, but the US refuses to hear this message and in return is only capable of seing a reflection of its own image.

Understandably the US dollar depends on such hemegony, but it's time for the US to give up some of the pie. After all isn't competition and democracy good for everyone? Don't tell me that the CCP is more of a dictatorship than US oligarchy.

The Chinese people are wrong in thinking that sensible, educated Americans want to hold them down or as they say, "Prevent Their Rise". A large, strong and prosperous China can benefit us all. What we do want to see is a political system that encourages freedom of religion, free speech, a free press, freedom for assembly, freedom to vote and petition or the freedom to express concerns, ideas, ideals, etc. to the government and to unleash the power of human ingenuity completely. We fall short of those ideals and principles ourselves in the USA but, prior to Trump, we moved ever so slowly towards matching reality with our ideals and principles. The Chinese people may like totalitarianism but, push come to shove, the USA has always promoted human rights. Regardless, there is a dire need in this world for China to continue to work internationally, without restraint, in addressing the problems that confront us all; i.e., cancer, dementia, global warming, poverty, economic disparity, the shortage of natural resources, like water, etc., etc.

if you buy Chinese products, you'll always replace them in less then 3 to 6 months in alot of cases. The constant need to replace broken products made in China is great for their economy.

Lawrence Summers is a total idiot. China will NOT give money away to NGOs and non profits with the majority going to money laundering to democrats. DO NOT LISTEN to Summers. He sounds like a drug addict.

" Give me more more, more cheap Chineses goods, regardless of the industry and capabilities lost forever "

US propaganda against China over the years has ironically helped China rejuvenate to its former greatness. If you keep on deliberately not painting the real picture of China , which means u mislead ppl to not understand China. What did Sun Zi says? Worse is you hide US very serious crisis because of fear it will affect your vested interest‘S agenda. Again , US don’t understand herself. A country that does not understand herself nor her enemies, 100 battles fought, 100 lost.

Micro backstab one of their companies and ask their senate or whatever to punish their companies while earn mega bucks from China market. China Govt is aware that , they are just waiting a chance to get back revenge on that company. Same as Canada. What it did to Meng will not be forgotten. Google / android which exploits Chinese mkt was punished recently too.

China is incapable of filling the needs U.S. may have pulled back on. China makes no pretense about greater good for others. Conditioned by western colonialism, China cares about China. And only China. No matter what happens to their allies. And has shown no desire to pretend otherwise.

The United States no longer has the Soviet Union as an enemy. Its defence budget is an order of magnitude above Russia's.

With respect to China, it is the number one trading partner of 150 countries. So it is logical that China would want to defend its interests globally just like the US has done.

But unlike the US, Russia, and Europe, China does not have a history of waging wars on other nations.

We, in the West, love to provoke wars with other nations so as to increase our defense budget. Let's be honest, peace is not good for our defense sector, industries, and Think Tanks.

Before the Dollar tanks with the massive debt of $36 trillion, the United States should join the Belt and Road initiative and get China to build our ailing infrastructures, our roads, bridges, and power grid. And while they're at it, build millions of homes for the poor.

Dr. Summers, our biggest threat is suppressing freedom and freedom of speech by banning over 34,000 user sites on Facebook while paying journalists to print lies to the American people. We should also do something about our failing schools.

And let's be for real, China's population is four times that of America's. Their students are very well trained. And China has an industrial economy policy. But ur policy is military with over 900 military bases overseas.

Most people saw no hope for the future as the political elites have lost their way. They think that America's problem is Russia and also China. But thank God for President Trump. There is a reason the American people voted him into office. He literally is our last hope.

China economy slowdown, the one who did this are Chinese govt themselves. They cured a cancer and went for recovering. Property market are one of them. They popped the bubble now while they still can control and size the pain, is painful, yes..but in long run this will make them healthy. China now want real grow and organic not just a numbers.
