Does this preserve multiple audio tracks? Thats the whole reason to use mkv so if it doesnt (which it didn't when i tried it) this tutorial is mostly useless

Another fix is to open OBS Studio -> File -> Remux Recordings - converts .mkv to .mp4 which can then be imported

The best and free one is handbrake

please either remove the video or mention that it doesn't work, because just renaming a file doesn't change its encoding format.
