The Military learned this lesson back in the mid '90's, when they had us trade in our wet weather gear AND our tried and true Field Jackets for,... Gortex jackets. Sure, they were NOISY when we were trying to be quiet, they snagged on a ton of items and there was not any type of insulation. So they reissued out Field Jacket Liners. Typical Marine Corps. It appeared that there was a small group that tested the GT Jackets, but did not get any of the reality feedback from the Troops. Well, they did get our feedback, but by then it was too late, since our Field Jackets had already been sold. So we were stuck with the noisy, cold, wet jackets that were, or rather Still Are USELESS in a combat situation.
Ответитьyou are literally doing the thing that he just said in the video is not supposed to be done, my dear fellow sheep in the comment section!!!
ОтветитьUse it if you want or dont use it..
ОтветитьI've tried other membranes and always Come back to Goretex. Especially walking shoes that let the rain in after a year. I have a pair of ten year old boots that still keep my feet dry, and yes, they're Goretex. The company works closely with manufacturers, you're paying for quality control and high standards.
ОтветитьHow do you get that 'like new DWR' back? Once mine wore off no matter how many products I've tried my 3L GT gets soggy within minutes in moderate rain
ОтветитьNot going to comment on the gimmick part of this but I can say a long time ago in a galaxy far far away when I was 22 I bought a quality waterproof jacket, yup, gore-tex. I am 65 now, still got that jacket and still wear it around the house and shop because it is dirty but it still keeps me warm and is still water proof. Actually wore it out in public up til a few yrs ago then wore it to fix a car and that was it, too dirty.
ОтветитьI think that you have missed some important facts out. I have Products which use water proof membranes from 3 other manufacturers, and you are right they are all similar products.
They all leak eventually, where Goretex doesn't....why? Because Goretex doesn't just sell the membrane to a clothing manufacturer.
They ask them to make their product, them submit it for testing and integrity. Goretex does this to ensure they are not blamed for product failure, when it could be down to the clothing manufacturer.
Goretex isn't just a membrane (like all the others are) it's a construction standard. That's why they insist on their seam tape. Manufacturers are forced to insert more panels around shoulders and arms so movement of the product in use doesn't tear the membrane and allow leakage.
I tried a quality brand pair of walking trousers in London the other day. They make similar claims. They were tacky and a mistake on the tube. If it's really wet you need this stuff, but no man-made fabric is nice in the summer (or winter) imho.
ОтветитьAnti-trust laws keep popping up. We clearly need a stronger FTC.
Price gouging and preventing competitors is pretty weak.
It's all GORE :(
ОтветитьBack in the 1970s in the Pacific Northwest we called it "Leak Tex."
ОтветитьThank you. I've been saying this to people for a long time and always get the "you're a moron" look.
ОтветитьThe best jacket I ever had was made from scholler c change
Ответитьim so happy I fund you forthinte
ОтветитьThis was excellent, thank youl
ОтветитьTriangle?
ОтветитьSo what should we buy instead?
ОтветитьJust to let you know I used the link to order the 360 bundle. The box arrived with the motorcycle mount but no camera. Now the company has been arguing for a week about whose fault it is rather than making it right. Not sure if anybody else has had this issue but watch out.
ОтветитьCome on man, the best analogy you could come up with is "imagine if neil armstrong patented the moon?"
You're supposed to be better at this.
