I think one pedal you should cover is the EHX Metal Muff. It’s actually pretty close to the buzzsaw used with a distorted channel.

At one point I was getting some cranked DS1 type tones. Not a bad option.

I almost bought a Fullbore yesterday but got the TC Electronics Metal Fangs instead, you should do that one, I think it’s a great pedal. Love the channel, keep up the good work. Cheers from Vancouver.

The Fullbore Metal sounds like something that'll be good for some lo-fi Grindcore. However as far as the iconic buzzsaw sound is considered it doesn't even come close to the HM-2.

And there it is in all its full(bore?) glory! 🤘😂

Funny how you kept the bass that high and the highs that low! 😉
The main focus, like you said, should be on the “into distorted amp” mainly.
I had all three EQ knobs at full, maybe because it wasn’t running into any DAW? I really don’t know how it would affect the high tones.
I really like this pedal and all its capabilities.

Thanks for doing all these videos, I am looking forward to a lot more! 🤘

Ok, I just did my own comparison, the TC Electronics Fangs is not chainsaw material, cool pedal but not in the HM-2 camp. Buuuuuut, I just plugged in an Aria Pro II Ultra Metal UM-1, and it’s HM-2 ish. Love to hear your thoughts on that one, I paid $25.00 new for it a a few years ago, haha.

It’s definitely not identical, but I think you could easily fool some people using a recording with that last setting.

Great video and comparison. 👍 The Fullbore Metal sounded closest to the Boss HM-2 in front of the distorted amp between 2.22 and 2.33 in the video. It actually did great to sound as close as it did considering it is not an HM-2 clone. So it is a great option to get to about 90% close to the Boss HM-2 chainsaw sound in a pedal that is in production and readily available at a reasonable price. 🤘

Why do you compare that shtty pedal to the legendary HM-2? There is nothing to compare. Every pedal from MXR I have heard sounded like shit, and this one is no excuse. If you like to torture your ears with sounds of 2 stroke engines and cats fucking at night then MXR is the sound YOU WANT!

Instead of playing with computers maybe concentrating on a true clean to start. Maybe using some of the features that are on that pedal. The Noise Gate would be a nice one. Having that in the beginning and having your Noise Gate on the end is very nice. I'm not saying this is perfect but my setup has this pedal to go with the clean Channel. The distortion on the Black Star is also amazing and I have a clean and crunch on that. I use a DS1 to get the brown sound as a backup. I also have a Zakk Wylde mxr boost. Used predominantly for solos or to just get a little dirt on my clean. But it is awesome to have something up front and to have the decimator at the end. I play a wide range of things all the way from country to death metal. The band I am in does a lot of '80s but also some Alice in Chains and Pantera. That is why so many different choices
