A few students of Rabbi Nachman of Breslov were on their way to visit him and asked his opinion on how they need to pray in the field, on their way to see him. They weren’t sure which direction to pray in. So he told them to pray towards their suitcases, to pray looking at their suitcases. Because if the suitcases would be stolen then they would get very disappointed and might not come visit him the next year.

A lot of people think that you need to build perfect emunah, or perfect faith, and you should ignore the physical world and your concerns completely and just connect yourself to God. but it is not the way. You have to take everything into consideration and God wants your happiness so he wants you to make sure to take care of your belongings and to be safe on the journey. God loves us infinitely and wants us to succeed. He created us just the way we are and He wants us to take ourselves into consideration, and to be kind to ourselves, and to go after our dreams in life, and to find our purpose, our mission in life.
