Abandoned Brooksbrae Brick Factory exploration. NJ

Well-known abandoned Brooksbrae Terracotta Brick Factory seems to be one of the most haunted and creepiest ghost town in NJ, thanks to its history but honestly I can’t say so.

Ruins on this site is one of the most visited abandoned places in NJ but I haven’t been there before so today I decided to explore it personally to get a feel for the local atmosphere.

The factory was built in 1905 to be a biggest brick manufacturer in NJ able to produce as many as 50.000 bricks a day.

However, it was barely up and running when the owner of facility William J. Kelly suddenly died in 1908, leaving a cloud of uncertainty over the future of the brick factory.

After his death, production didn’t move forward.

William Kelly’s will had any complications and caused his estates to become frozen, thus affecting the factory before it could reach its planned potential.

The disputes were not worked out until 1918. During the examination of the will, bricks production was faded and finally the factory halted.

In 1915, Brooksbrae Brick Factory accidentally burned down. A married couple of caregivers who maintained the factory after closure were killed in fire.

Nowadays Brooksbrae Brick Factory ruins are easy accessible and everybody can explore remains which consist of few concrete structures, walls and drying tunnels which were used to remove the moisture from the clay bricks before they baked in a downdraft kiln.

All ruins turned into gallery of modern graffiti art. Absolutely all factory remains are covered with colorful graffiti including tree trunks and the nearest asphalt road.
