7 Wood vs 9 Wood - Which one should you play?

Being a bloke of a certain age decided to gave up on my long irons and "invest" in a combination of fairways and hybrids including a Ping G430 9 wood as it happens...and what a club it is too, without doubt, THE best club I have ever owned...sooo forgiving, particularly on heel strikes for some reason, can even use it out of the semi rough! What's not to like...other than the price of course!

What are the lofts on these fairway woods?

You guys need to come out with an 11 wood, already got a 7 and 9 need that 11 when the fairways are super firm

You literally cannot buy a core model Qi35 9 wood anywhere. Lol not even on TM's own website yet it's in all the videos. All you can get is the MAX

Finally playing a 7 wood rather than a 3 hybrid. Slightly shorter but better desperation. Still longer than my 4 iron by about 20 yards.

I love a 7-wood, as it is more versatile than a 5-wood. I also play a 4-wood instead of a 3-wood. I would have never thought about a higher loft wood till I tried one. They are awesome clubs.

I would like to have you do a fitting for both of us, and get him his first set of good clubs, and upgrade me from a plus 20 yr old set. I’m that person that needs to get a grasp of what I’m getting myself into. I want to make a moment with my kid. I live in Texas and he is in North Hollywood. Love this. 7 & 9woods are part of our regular fitting routine. More and more players are open to comparing their long irons to these. We have plus handicaps to 20 handicaps playing their best golf after making the switch. Just have to tell me where I can get that Core 9 Wood!

My game/swing speed I switched last year to play a 7 wood in place of my 2 iron. If I really swing it off a small tee I can go 220. Off the deck I swing lighter and use it for 200 yard shots. So it actually takes the place of my 2 iron from the tee and my 4 iron from the fairway. I’ve been an iron lover for years and I still can not hit hybrids. But I can hit my 7 wood great. I have not tried a 9 wood as I don’t own one.

I have carried a 7wood for 3years now. I am really considering a 9wood. Just sucks that hard to be fitted for. I do have the issue of low ball flight with my 4 iron and not striking it the best. Thanks for the video.

Wouldn’t using a P DHY 3 or 4 iron be the best of both worlds from someone who wants more height and slightly more distance out of their 4 iron compared to 9 wood?

Trottie crushing it as always. Enjoyed this one…. Def considering a 9 wood setup. Being able to softly land a ball at like 225-235 would be killer at my home course.

Try cutting the 9 wood a bit shorter so it goes a bit shorter and not so high

It is an either / or decision I think Trottie, you don’t need both in your bag, unless you carry. 5-wood which creeps towards your 3-wood distance. Either / or

Love my 7 wood but find it a pointless club hitting into wind. Perfect clubs for US golf .

I have an oldie M4 HL 7 wood with a 5 wood shaft. It's 24 degrees which is esentially a 9 wood. It is my favorite club! 220 carry, nice & high for this mid-handicap golfer. I am now looking at getting an 11 wood for 200 yard carry to replace my 4 iron. To hell with hybrids! Ha!

10.5 degree driver, 3 wood HL (aka 4 wood) and 7 wood in my full bag. If I’m carrying in the winter and taking fewer clubs I will swap out both the 3 and 7 for a 3 hybrid for versatility. And in the summer I might rotate a 2 P-DHY into the top end somewhere.

Recently changed from a qi10 3w with my qi10 7w, to a qi10 3w HL and the 7w. I find it’s better gapping than my normal 3w

I have long since gotten rid of my 3 wood and go 5 wood 4 hybrid. I hit my 5 wood farther than my 3 and I can actually get it off the ground. I am strongly considering replacing my hybrid with either a 7 or 9 wood.

Lefty availability wise and just preference I might try a 5 or 6 hybrid instead of a 4 iron since an actual 4 hybrid goes too far (4 iron is 24°s) but the club between my 3 wood and 4 iron rotates between a 3 iron, 5 wood and 3 hybrid

why the hell are you making a video with the Qi35 Core 9 Wood when the public cant by one? your max fairways are shit and ugly compared to the core.

I got a 5 wood because I wanted to have a safe option off the tee on tight par 4s however it goes too long for what I wanted it for. So I'm considering a 7 wood or maybe 9 wood. Trouble is I need an x stiff and can't find any 2nd hand. Had a look to spec up a brand new qi35 but I grudge paying over 300 for that kind of club. Not ruling it out though

I really hope this video is signifying something to come. I would definitely put a core model nine wood in the rotation. The max is terrible.

Have a 7 wood loved it so picked up a 9 wood abd now my favorite club. Swing just under 90mph with my woods easier to hit then a 3 & 5 and more versatile for me. 9 wood 2nd shot long par 4s roll out about 6 yrds long par 3s csn tee it up or shorter par 3s into a stiff wind can hit a little 1/2 punch shot bring the ball flight down and cut through the wind. Could make a case for slower swing speeds and mid to high handicap dhould play 7 & 9 wood instead of a 3 & 5.

My 4 iron goes 200 yards when I hit it well, my 9 wood has replaced this and is a constant. It’s a qi10, love it.

I play both 7 and 9 because they take the place of my 4 and 5 hybrids. So much more consistent and confident with the high loft fairways.😎👍

Im confused. Is this a max or regular qi35 on the 9 wood? I only see max on the website available.
