Informative; thank you! But despite its size and the four engines, this beauty is not that loud. 🫡

Nice to see what affordable housing, quality daycare, longer vacations, free medical care, decent infrastructure, lower taxes, cheaper healthier food, safer cleaner streets, better education and strong border enforcement for all Americans and their children otherwise looks like, especially because it was paid for by them. Welcome to the 1%'s-owned America, the Land of the Ignorant, the Indifferent, the Corrupt, the Propagandized and Extreme Poor, and recently, with your tax dollars at work, paying for genocide and the mass murder of children.

Jumping out of one is like jumping out of the side of a flying apartment complex going several hundred miles an hour. Minimum cruising speed: they don't say, which seems a bit dumb, because the speed of the plane really doesn't matter as much to anyone but the troops jumping out of it at speed. Aviation people are rather insensitive, just like all the other 'rich' people, don't you think?

The C-5 Super Galaxy is powered by four GE CF6-80C2 turbofan engines each developing a thrust of 50,580lb. The thrust given here of 41,000lbs is for the original engines(TF-39) that were used.

The biggest military Transport aircraft is the Antonov An-124 Ruslan (Russian/Ukrainian) then the C5M Super Galaxy.

I was assigned to a TAC squadron when I was in the Air Force. We'd go mobile and operate from remote sites. To do that, we needed MAC support. Once in awhile a C-5 would be sent to help transport us. What blew me away was how short their take-off distance was, and how slow they'd be moving when they'd leave the ground. It was almost surreal.

When I was an F-16 crew chief at Ramstein Air Base, Germany, I had the unfortunate opportunity to witness a C-5 crash in the field behind my workplace. It happened just as I was turning in my tools sometime after 10pm. That C-5 was an Air Force Reserve A-model out of Kelly AFB, TX.

While the C-5A was known to be the only aircraft that was bigger than the 747, which was the world's largest airliner for many years, the C-5A was only a military transport carrier, or cargo plane, and never an airliner. Most of the remaining 747's today either being scrapped, or converted to cargo planes. The A380 Airbus was the only other aircraft that could carry more passengers than the 747, but never caught on to any major US airlines, and was not in production for very long.

The C-5 Super Galaxy is big, but not the biggest Military transport, that wold be the Antonov An 225 Myra. The C-5 about matches her little sister the Antonov An-124, that is still slightly bigger.
