hmm... i have money, but i not idiot, whats choice? 2 Top spec PC or 1 Mac Pro ... Hmm!! !!theoretically!! if i can be install(i dont this without hacking) Mac OS on Top PC ... I take 2 Top PC 2x better then Mac Pro!! If i use windows and windows applications i have 2 Top PC vs 1 Mac Pro but Mac Pro on 20-30% better in applications on Mac OS and Mac Pro in 4x baddest on mixed applications.... I think, better i save 50% my money and lose 20-30% in some applications :)) OK i make some videos or renders on 10-15 min longer but save 50% money :)) or buy 2 PC and use 2 PC :)) When 1 PC render 3d scenes, you create video montage on 2 PC :))

This video is fairly old, but by way of compare, my dual Xeon E5-2643 v2 (Ivy Bridge...released in 2013) Dell Precision T7610 workstation which I paid about 500$ for and have put about another 1000$ in by way of SSDs, m2 PCIe adapters, RTX card, RAM, etc, outperforms the 6K Mac Pro in the r20 and GB 5 tests that were run. In r20 I get 4007 and in GB 5 a score of 8268 for multicore performance (793 for single, showing the age of the Ivy Bridge Xeons). Truly the 6k Mac Pro is a terrible value. But of course now in 2023, with Apple having ditched x86 architecture, the base Mac Pros have gone from 6k to about 2k on eBay...give them,m another year or so and they will be a reasonable option for upgrade.

Up until a few months ago, I was a long time Windows user. I started off with Dos 6.2 and Windows 3.1 and have moved through the various iterations ever since. However, when MS released 11 and I found that without hacks I could not have my taskbar down the left hand edge of the screen, that was the final straw. Despite it being the most requested feature, MS gave us the finger and told us where to put it. I want to make best use of my screen. So I initially made the leap by creating a couple of Hackintoshes. Two using old Haswell processors and one using a tenth gen chip with a Z490-P motherboard. Even using generic PC hardware it was smoother than Windows 11. I finally made the jump. I purchased an old Mac Mini (2012) which was set up as a file server, an M1 Mac Mini as our main home computer and then finally sold my Dell 7280 and purchased a Macbook Pro 2015 retina and the transformation is complete. I still use Android on my phone and to show I am not a complete macos fanboy, we have two PCs in the kids room and two Huawei D14 laptops rocking Windows 10 (neither of my kids like Windows 11 either).

I'd recommend making the leap to Mac as it seems more internally consistent and not just a mishmash of 32 and 64 bit applications which don't always play nicely.

Apple did what Microsoft couldn't and can't which is make the leap fully to 64 bit and to hell with the consequences and it's paid dividends. The Apple processors simply have to be experienced before you realise just how much grunt they have in a package that uses less power than a light bulb.

How come nobody ever talks about audio latency in a daw on a mac vs. pc. There is an entire industry that is brainwashed into apple. I am building a $4000 pc for about half the price because I am building it. The music industry in general has issues with pc sofware instability and apple seems to have an advantage in latency. However I can build a pc for half the price of a similarly specd mac would that do the job? I do rendering, autocad and video production work too so I need everything. My build is roughly, $500 3070 gpu, $700 AMD 9 7950X3D processor, about $400 64/128 gb ddr5 ram i haven't purchased, $100 NoctuaNHD-15 cooler, $120 80 plus platinum cooler, $500 X670E gigabyte aorus motherboard. Total $2320.

What is insane with the Mac Pro is paying twice the price of the base model doesn't give you twice the perfs...

that thing uses so much power and heat to get a cb score of 6000. The cpus are so old they dont support a lot of accelerated hardware instructions + codecs. If you're editing video with it the real world cb is more like 2000. At that point even a quad core cpu from 2014 would easily beat it. Theres a lot of reasons this wouldnt work well in a daily workflow. I think if you really want to salvage it, hackintosh inside the same case would be the best bet. Tech just improves quite a lot over time, theres no stopping that. I think itd be cool to have an old mac pro but i cant imagine using it in my day to day for video.

Apple makes a product… this is like comparing a mercedes to a bunch of mustang parts you spent the summer tuning and brag about the better horsepower you have, then complaining about the price of the Mercedes. A pc is not a product, its a collection of parts that often do t work with each other and require a shit ton of labor to create anything even 1/16th the build quality of an apple product. I am so not an apple fanboy, but all the hate they get makes me want to be one because god do you guys know fuck all about normal people who don’t tinker with computers in their free time.

I am happy with my two pc. MSI creator with 3060/i711th/512ssd/oled 4K/16gb and 5600g/3060/32gb/1ssd + Asus pro art 4K.
I do video editing and photo editing with no issues.
Got the msi for 1k brand new (the shop was selling everything) and the pc cost me 1050k to build.

Ps. When i started in 2019 I had a MacBook pro touch bar i5/8gb/256gb (1600£) and I couldn’t run smoothly premier pro. If you don’t want to spend a lot, stay away from apple. If you don’t care, buy what you want (;

If Macs are so optimized, why do they crash so often and lose progress on projects? I have never once lost a project to a crash on PC, but for my friends on Macs it is a common occurrence.
