Please Stop Using Google Analytics

Just look at the very sad state that the "Business Thingy" on the search page for businesses to have some very basic - most of the times not fitting to the particular business - things you can show when people are searching for businesses! The settings basically got severely downgraded from a bunch of proper sites in the generall settings to a tacked on modal dialog in Google Maps! I fully expect that they will graveyard this "feature" soon!

SimpleAnalytics is great too, similar to Amplitude but much more privacy focused. But PostHog seems like it's even greater. Thanks for the info!

Without GA your website receives less score.. For marketing such analytics must have..

Pirsch and Fathom are some other good alternatives. I think both have an open source offering but might be out dated.

I worked at a place where they had millions in ad spend and years of analytics across 50+ sites and all that historical information is gone.

It's not gone, it's in Segment/Amplitude, but It's gone from GA.

GA4 is not banned in France or any other country the EU - US privacy framework makes it absolutely legal (you still need to obtain consent of course). The tone of this video is very biased GA bashing. As if Google was about to pull the plug on GA lol

Even worse: my company went to Adobe after gdpr made Google ua go boom. But it's synchronicity that I am also looking at self hosting posthog for the last few weeks. Sadly they killed their kubernetes support:(

Posthog looks nice and it's inexpensive. I'm going to have to check it out.

Easy to say that we need to stop Google Analytics but it's like the #1 requirements for pretty much every advertising platform.

I have to kind of disagree here, while yes there are issues with Google Analytics-- at the end of the day it's free.

I would never opt-in into "paying" for analytics services if there is not enough traffic to comb through in the first place. My advice if you're building a project with like 0 users or under lets say 1,000 - 10,000 users, you should never be paying for analytics or be locked into analytics services with limited free tiers.

Google is free. MS Clarity is free. Growthbook is free. Mixpanel has a great free tier. Vercel analytics with also a great free tier. That's mostly wat you need unless you're dealing with like a million users.

You made video for only promotion only. And earn money from sponser. You can suggest Adobe analytics. Half of video of paid tool

Giving posthog a try for my new React native app thanks to this video. Currently using mixpanel for my web app but mixpanel and amplitude require development builds with expo posthog doesn't. So far enjoying it! May just switch my web app from mixpanel to posthog also

Started using PostHog a few weeks ago, it''s really great.
Installed it in only a few minutes.
Without any custom event I get more insight after a few days for free than what my email provider is able to give me on 2 years of data.
Great tool, super flexible and easy to get started.
Also trying to convince them to sponsor me 😄

Google Analytics 4 is legal in Finland. It has never been illegal. It was Google Universal Analytics

We integrated ga4 from the start, didn’t have to migrate. Though, it was such a pain to make sure it’s working properly. All the tutorials are not going to understanding how it really works, delay of data landing is random, charts are weak, even with custom reports

Posthog is sick! A lot of managed Ad providers require google analytics data to sign on which makes it difficult for blogs to move over without demonetizing themselves. :/
