The key to bridge quality is diversity. All of that tension compression mumbo-jumbo is just a social construct. Don't listen to this guy, you don't need to calculate anything. Just believe.

How many, what percentage, of all a cable-stayed-bridge cables are necessary to hold up the bridge before failure? Or, what percentage of the cables can fail, before a cable-stayed bridge will fail/fall?

I live within viewing distance of a Cantilever bridge a Suspension bridge and a Cable-stayed bridge. I'm sure someone can guess where that is.

The best example of a suspension bridge is the Humber Bridge between the East Riding of Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire in England. At the time of completion, it had the longest span of any suspension bridge in the world.
