Just started my first Alani campaign and merged my starting stacks keeping all cav. All starting missile cav and shock cav and faction leader. (Other general had two missile cav left) Fought two battles with ERE, around 4000 against my 1000 2 armies vs 1. Over the course of two battles wiped them out completely. So OP, love cav.
TLDR: cav together stronk!
I attacked town north of Constantinopolis that had a stack in it, another one came up from Constantinopolis and attacked. Fought it until arrows gone and did some charges on isolated units and then retreated with very few losses. (No losses from retreat because of Alani trait) Then they both attacked again but used all my missiles and routed multiple units kiting them around leaving my shock cav and general hidden to rest.
It took a long time but at the later stages of the battle I surrounded them with all my cav and charged one unit at a time from multiple directions and sent missile cav to chase them down. With one big charge at the end it was glorious!!
i need help about the Governors, how do we take over more territory, when we are limited with governors, im only allowed 6.
do i stop taking over, or turn the new territories in to vassal states. or is there another way?
It's a really good guide. Please do huns or white Huns. Btw, your army has been cut in half by that. Not good for horse lords but such is battle.
ОтветитьHey Yrridian, if you are still about, this video was great, and I'm waiting for your video on how to play the Romans. Can't try them till its out.
ОтветитьDid he ever do that Huns guide?
ОтветитьThe Alans in Attila are the strongest , they have the best cavalry
ОтветитьI need more guides man! I LOVE YOUR CONTENT
ОтветитьWhat I Learned:
Alans OP.
Make Ultra Complex Army First To Learn Faster Through Defeat.
Learn Faster = Memez
Memez = War Crimes .
War Crimes Are Great Fun
This Tactic May Be Re-Used With The Other Factions' Cavalry.
This Tactic Effectively Turns You Into A God Of Total War As A Whole As It Can Be Recycled.
Winning As The West Romans With Cav Only = Dank Memez
Dank Memez = Stonkz
Hey @Yrridian
I have no idea if you’ll see this but I’m in a minor headache cause uh
How the hell do you change religion as the Alans…?
It seems so basic and yet I feel like I’m missing something
Personally I can't bring myself to do this as Alans, since its a 100% an exploit the AI is too stupid to put their army in a box formation, when you don't bring missile cavalry in an all cavalry army. It is rather weird your basic horse unit and its upgrades still maintain being a core of the Alan Army even if you have an infantry block so they can do proper hammer and anvil.
ОтветитьGreat tutorial! Going to try that Alans campaign now.
ОтветитьHow do you handle siege with mostly cavalry? Starving out takes too much time and for a horde, that's a major loss of income.
ОтветитьIs there any counter to Alani in multiplayer?
ОтветитьRacking up these kind of wins is super satisfying but insanely stressful. When doing a Hun campaign, I ended up having to fight 2-3 of these battles a round because every petty 1-province-minor nation on the map send their fullstack(??!) army to where my hordes were. I felt hunted instead of being the Hun(ter) ;)
ОтветитьI can confirm this also works on Rome: Total War Barbarian Invasion aswell!
ОтветитьI wonder if I could get this to work in rome2 and finally beat Caesar in Gaul.
ОтветитьI actually played a campaign with this guide, and it works. It really works. I went against a couple Egyptian armies of just spears and won. All of my faction leaders died of age, and I stopped playing because it got really annoying losing horses on ships. Also warhounds are surprisingly effective, especially in sieges as the AI don’t realise they exist until they’re one inch from their face.
ОтветитьI think having a small core of ranged cavalry to constantly skirmish the center infantry would be extremely valuable while you clean up the auxiliaries
Ответитьyes the famed rape europe fuck public order strat
ОтветитьIn rom II scythia was the only really layable hrose faction, roxalan was too weak and amsagète requiered too much late tech.... I find deeply insulting the suggestion that range cav is too complexe to use... If you are a complet noob and focus on melle use range cav ad reserve and hammer.
ОтветитьI just dreamt of total war tonight.(weird) I don't play these games usually but the only thing I played was Atilla. I wanna get back to it.
ОтветитьI have played total war for many years, and my play style has always been that of fast hard hitting units either with light infantry such as skirmishes strong enough to engage in hand to hand combat or cavalry. As much as I love skirmishers and light infantry I have always had an almost spiritual connection with cavalry. I seldom ever create an army without a strong cavalry contingent and in many of my victories it’s always been my cavalry that carried the day. With that being said; the fact I just got total war Attila and played it only once in custom battle with the first faction I touch being the Alans and now you give an entire guide on them is brilliant. This will greatly help me when I start their campaign and as always I love your content. But this along with your last stand against the Suebians has to be one of my favorite videos. For that you’ve earned a life time subscriber my friend, keep up the amazing work! :D
ОтветитьWhat i would Personally do if i spam horses i use gorrila warfare i hide in the trees use my horse archers to taunt a few units and wipe them out slowly
ОтветитьI saw cataphracts and was immediately sold.
Ответитьhelp!
doesnt work in multiplayer campaign
my brother in law is spamming spear infantry now...
It's cheesy.. but it feels gud!
ОтветитьArguably one of the most memorable illustrations of 'manouvre warfare' , online...
Ответить"technically not a horse"
That's not how the Trojans remembered siege equipment ...
There actually is exactly such kind of subterfuge within the game mechanics by using a 'champion' to breach walls before a siege battle - and it is likely that players have them accompany an army anyway for retraining replacements.
This is similar the Hun armies I ran in Attila. One half of my army was melee cav, the other half missile cav. The first phase was skirmish where my light & fast horse archers would first decimate the enemy cav with fire arrows and proceed to whittle down their infantry while keeping our own melee cav out of the fight. The second phase would be exactly as you described here, except by that point the enemy is only at a fraction of their strength.
ОтветитьI want to do an Alans campaign where I focus on going south and conquering the Sassanid Empire. Probably the most hardmode way of playing instead of just going to WRE, perfect breeding ground for empires.
Ответитьincredible
ОтветитьI don't fukin know what am I doing with my life but I'm sure it's interesting.
ОтветитьVienna is not southern gaul it's in Austria which is southern Germany. gaul=france not germany
Ответитьfucking amazing mate
ОтветитьI once won against a opnment that had around 1000 men with only 4 units of heavy mele Calvery. My calvery was very experienced tho.
ОтветитьRewatching these over and over after seeing the latest video
ОтветитьI’m curious. Our Lord said that Auxilia Palatina are the second best spearmen in Attila. Which unit would be the best then?
I’m seriously curious. Trolly questions are fun too, but can someone tell me?
Very cool video. I been making full cavalry army since Medieval 2, there i used to pick the Russian faction. They got a good melee cavalry with javelins. And my strategy back then was quite similar to yours, but a little more defensive since that unit is not exactly cheap and was not so easy to replace losses. What i do was isolate enemy cavalry, and harass enemy infantry picking any ranged infantry who break formation. The AI tend to keep melee infantry in formation back then like in Attila, but in the end that was a good thing since i just thrown on then all my javelins and get then exhaust in the process, to end the battle all was left is to encircle the enemy army and charge with all my forces, in general the battle ends at moment of impact.
ОтветитьMan missile cavalry is sooo great... Even the one units of wekest cav. archers makes huge difference to your army.
ОтветитьHistorically, cavalry was devastating. Cav spam in total war games has been a thing for a long time but I can't help but feel that it's easier than it was before. Shogun 2 (the pinnacle of total war games) had ACTUAL counters to cav spam... It's frustrating that exploits like this are only getting easier as more total war games are released.
ОтветитьCould never really get into total war attila but this guide changed things around for me. Right now I've conquered the entire of spain and mauretania, which is further than I've ever got into this game and the most fun I've had with it. One question though, do you recommend upgrading or changing the alani cavalry warriors stack? if so with which unit?
ОтветитьThis is what Napoleon did in his battles. Divide and destroy the enemies.
ОтветитьBetter idea: breed a pegasus with your horses until you get enough for a unit of flying horse archers then fly over the walls
Ответить"Horae go nyoom" -Sun Tsu
Ответитьspet xyon go brrrrrrrrrrrrr
ОтветитьYou should really make use of some of their horse archers. Even just adding a few can turn the tide of many battles as they not only can do a ton of damage to enemy units when flanking or behind them but they also make good bait for enemy infantry while your melee cavalry mop up their archers and cavalry.
Ответитьthat start cinematic was epic
Ответитьahaha perfect
now do a guide for the WRE
best Campaign and enjoyable so far, after watching this! thanx
