12 Must-Have Kayak Fishing Accessories from Hobie

After buying all those accessories you could have bought a boat 🚤

Does the EVA kit come pre-cut for Hobie kayaks? Is the kit limited to only Hobie, or can it be cut for other kayak companies as well?

I have a new Compass and the heavy duty Hobie cart. Is it worth modifying the cart like so many have done to have a bungee system that pulls it into place? Or is it more for the outback and pro anglers? Just wondering whether I should modify it.

I added a Bixpy drive to my Outback. Adapter fits perfectly and the battery fits edgewise in the left aft slot. Will go 3 mph at half speed with range of 20 miles. Add some easy peddling and go 4.5 to 5 mph. Full speed is about 5 mph with 10 to 12 mile range. I use it to go between fishing sites then use peddles.

That bilge pump is a must have. I didn’t have one and I realized I forgot to plug my drain plugs when I was already 4 miles off shore. Luckily I had an old coffee can so I was able to shovel water out of the tackle storage compartment below my feet.

I just put a deposit on a '22 Outback. Can't wait for it to arrive and will christening it in later April. Great video and fantastic tips on the accessory recommendations. Crate, bilge and PFDs are my initial must haves and will continually add accessories as I go along.

My goodness, how heavy is the kayak with all that gear, and how prone is it to rollover ? I am just starting into serious kayak fishing, so loved the gear available that you showcased, but at 65 years old, I gotta think of stuff like weight & rollover potential...:-)

Have you seen the new Steady Stake? It is a pole that mounts on competitors pedal systems? Sells for $200. Well I gave up on golf and converted my golf ball retriever into one. It fits perfectly into the sail post hole. This hole is heavily reinforced. When standing and fishing it provides a way to maintain your balance and not be in your way.

You CANNOT buy the H rail for the back of the Hobie Outback. This is a sore spot with me. Do not false advertise. THEY ARE NOT IN PRODUCTION.
