When the Lions traded Stafford for Goff, I thought Detroit got the best of the deal and my friends/family who are all Lions fans laughed at me. He started out rough because he had no one to throw to and the protection was weak. But I had watched Goff before and knew he was excellent. He hung in there and the Lions got other players needed through the great moves by Brad Holmes. This past year everyone had to say I was right about Goff and they were wrong. I'm very happy for Goff as he's a good guy and QB!

My family has had Lions season tickets since 1977! Last season was soooo special. I was at the Rams playoff game and the entire stadium was chanting "JA-RED GOFF JA-RED GOFF" when he came out of the tunnel and then anytime theyd show him on the big screens!! It was awesome and you could just tell he felt the love!

McVay’s stubborn mindset and the loss of Zach Taylor is what caused Goff’s performance decline. Taylor was so instrumental to Goff’s success with the Rams, and losing him to the Bengals and being forced into questionable play calls by Kevin O’Connell wasn’t ideal.

We saw many of O’Connell’s coaching flaws with the Vikings last season and even the season before. And they just solidify the fact that he isn’t as good of a coach as Zach Taylor was.

Even the title gives the wrong impression of goff... when rams drafted him, they sucked. Bad. 3 yrs, trip to superbowl. Gets traded to detroit when detroit is bad. 3 years, goes to NFC champ game and really should have been superbowl without the vildor debacle and the gibbs fumble. Yall can say whatever you want about goff, he is a good qb and has seen success. He has revived 2 franchises now, and it doesn't matter if that came from his arm or who he is as a dude.

It only makes sense that in the bizzaro world in which we now live, that the Lions are now a good ball club...and they are a really good club right now.

People give the quarterback too much credit it takes a whole team to win a game and it takes a whole team with well coached players who know what to do and when to do it to win a superbowl it’s like the coaches are playing chess but the players/pieces on the chess board gets to choose how they move and sometimes they are up to the task and sometimes not so it comes down to who’s better at stopping the bleeding while out maneuvering their opponent
Dan Marino is probably the best to ever do it and he never won a Super Bowl

Few people want to acknowledge the harsh facts about the Goff/Stafford trade but it was a kind of destiny. McVay's relationship with Goff had completely deteriorated to the point where they were rarely talking and behind the scenes they were working on how to get a LEADER behind center. I like Goff, he's a great person and he broke ALL of Aaron Rodgers records at Cal, so, he's got the 'stuff'. He was just not as mentally dialed in as McVay needed him to be and had a 'ho/hum' reaction to missing WIDE open WR's that McVay was working his arse off to scheme open.
There is a stat that few know about but it's a BIG time tell on how alert a QB is. 'Average separation per completion' - meaning 'how OPEN was the WR when he caught the ball'. Goff in LA was benefiting from the HIGHEST number while Stafford had the LOWEST, yet still have MORE completions. Are you starting to see why ONE meeting in Cabo was enough for the McVay and Snead to pull the trigger on the trade of a lifetime? McVay knew, if he could get a dart throwing ace like Stafford in LA, running his system, they'd get over the hump. Say what you want but I still maintain that Goff NEEDED that hip check to grow up as a MAN and a leader and Stafford needed to use what ever he has left in the tank to show he could get it done.
