Backbone is ass y’all. Portal provides the actual PlayStation experience. I just played spider man 2 on the bike at the gym this morning on public WiFi with virtually no lag the whole time. That’s insane.

I have Chiaki on my steamdeck. Works like a champ.

I have xfinity wifi I believe either 600 or 800 mbps internet.. hope that would be good for portal

Both are horrible products. But the backbone has the most use. Especially if you spilt playing mobile titles on it. Otherwise, don’t bother with either

I just got my backbone and I am playing Genshin impact and resident evil village on my iPhone 15 pro max it’s Good no remote play

Until the portal gets a firmware update to allow a browser to be opened for free wifi authentication, the backbone will always be better. Sorry

Portal is overall better for remote play. The controls on the backbone are laggy. Especially the camera analog, it’s not responsive as the portal analogs. Whoever says the backbone can compete to the portal, clearly is lying, and does not own both. Portal for the win.

Unfortunately where I’m living now, backbone one is only 85 usd and portal is 320 usd.

i can take the backbone anywhere and play it. it runs smoother, cheaper. portal is bigger and feels nice to hold.

@PlayStation, please fix this bug ASAP: i did customized controller button in mu ps5, switched X abd O buttons, but when i use my ps portal playing games, the switched button settings don't work! I can't find any way to switch the X and O buttons in my ps portal!!! Sony PlayStation, please be aware of this issue and fix it ASAP, thanks you so much ❤

Hi man there is portal for galaxy tap s9 ultra

A major point everyone is missing is that the ps portal has to be on the same connection (network) as your ps5 while the backbone does not. Also you can use remote play over mobile connection which isn’t the best experience depending on your area but the option is there and it does work I tried it.

PS Portal can’t be even used in a hotel / cafe that requires logging in via a browser. Huge problem

I have the gamesir g8 galileo, the kishi v2 and the backbone, and recently got the portal. All I can say is that all of them are great, but the portal is the best for PS Remoteplay since it is a dedicated device. With the portal, I could use my phone freely while playing, on the other hand, when using the ps remoteplay on ios and android devices, it disconnects everytime you switch to another app.

Just use a controller and remote play

Doesn’t run as smooth but chooses it anyway because you assume WiFi will fix it but you’re probably on the SAME WiFi network with the backbone and it runs much better? How could a lagging game device win over the non lagging one?

I don’t agree with his statement the backbone is good small and a lot more you can do runs faster as well

Costco has the backbone for $30... you also get a $25 PlayStation gift card so for the price the backbone is better portable wise.

This is such a bullshit bias comparison. The backbone doesn’t feel cheap at all. And it allows for not only ps remote play, but Xbox remote play, steam link, and pretty much any other type of remote or local game play on your phone.

Another Piece of E Waste Bought to you by Playstation. If you're rich then go by all means. Made for Rich Man's Convenience of playing anywhere from living room to your toilet. Because you got good internet connection package and because they think it's Cool.

Backbone can literally be played anywhere unlike the portal, can be used for mobile and other cloud gaming, the black version comes with gamepass ultimate. Has a better streaming(phone dependent) and can use Bluetooth. Backbone is better hands down. It might not be as comfortable but it more versatile

So, wouldn't the phone be better in this case? It's a phone. You can pair any controller to it. So the only metric that matters is quality. And if the quality on the phone is better than the portal, why not just use a more comfortable controller on the phone?
