In this video, I address the recent allegations made by the Prospectors and Miners Association of Victoria (PMAV) accusing me of spreading hysteria, misinformation, and harming the prospecting community. As an advocate for prospectors’ rights, I take these accusations seriously and want to clarify my stance while providing factual and transparent information about the recent restrictions affecting prospectors in the Ballarat region.

The changes to prospecting access in Ballarat have sparked widespread concern among prospectors, and it’s crucial to discuss how Section 7 of the Victorian Mineral Resources (Sustainable Development) Act 1990 has been applied to this historically significant goldfield. While this legislation has been in place for decades, its recent implementation in Ballarat marks a significant change that directly impacts prospectors’ activities.

To ensure the accuracy of my content, I consulted a lawyer specializing in mining law to review the legislation. I’ll clarify any misunderstandings, and explain the proactive steps I’ve taken to correct minor errors in my initial interpretation. My goal is to empower the prospecting community with accurate, actionable information while fostering an open dialogue about the challenges we face.

I also discuss the PMAV’s response to my video and share my thoughts on the importance of advocacy, transparency, and collaboration. Advocacy for prospecting rights is essential, especially when new restrictions threaten access to cherished goldfields like Ballarat. This video serves as an open invitation to the PMAV and other stakeholders to engage in constructive, respectful dialogue to address the issues impacting the prospecting community.
