As legendary as that team was, and the ones in years prior, especially the 2005 one, they had a fatal flaw: corner kicks!

R9 played a great role filling in striking in goals and finishing 4th position in the league ( shame he was cup tied).
Edit- the older cafu and serginho got more goals conceded that season because they could not run back quick so solution was jankulovski was brought in by the club.

Oddly we probably played the better game in 2007 but you can't have everything (unless you're Madrid). Milan will always be my favourite Italian team and I hope they can win #8 this season. I would love to see the comparison regarding formations between Livepool and AC Milan during their 2004/2005 Champions League finals and the 2006/2007 Champions League finals. Because for me, it looks like AC Milan got their revenge in 2007.

Pirlo, Seedorf, Kaka/Rui Costa flanked by Ambrosini and Gattuso was one of the best midfields ever assembled. It's up there with Socrates, Zico, Cerezo and Falcao in 1982, or Platini, Giresse, Tigana and Fernandez in 1984.

They beat us that night but in my opinion AC MILAN let that team decline as it aged neglecting to develope long term replacements. The back 4 where all in their mid thirties as was the midfield with the exception of Kaka. Wonderful players but a team on the downward curve by then

that team had everything... world class keeper, "the fkin' wall", 4 playmakers in the midfield (all 4 of them long range goal scorers), one of the most dangerous counter attack player in history (Kaka), and goal scoring machines in the attack...
in my opinion that was the dream team before Pep's Barcelona...

There is something about ac milan which inter and juventus sorely lack. It feels like a massive club with only real madrid sharing that hallowed presence. That is just my opinion. No club whether its liverpool barca or bayern. None of them feel as big as milan

I really appreciated your praise for Gattuso and Ambrosini's technical capabilities. People dont realise how good both these were technically, they werent just ball winners. Perhaps neither Gattuso nor Ambrosini were as "complete" as some of today's best midfielders but it was a different era back then and Gattuso/Ambro in their youth trained to be better at their strengths
