Maybe this has been discussed before, but why don't they make a sliding payload door?? Like internally sliding around the center point of the diameter of the ship??

Predictions for future flights; SpaceX will use the Quick Save/Load. Docking will use the Matt Lowne lazy method. Ralph Macchio will manually operate the chopsticks. SpaceX will redeem the free cup of coffee with their 5th FAA launch license.

Why they do not designed it to have Crew dragon on top??
Then you have a good escape system and it is sooner human rated.
Cannot see humans onboard Starship any time soon.

A long way from conolizing mars, BUT what so many neysayers dont get: With this third vehicle, actually crudely hammered together in a shed somehwere in nowhere land and completely prototype, space x now already has the most capable launch system ever created. the booster and the starship seemed to have worked flawlessly up to (almost) reaching orbit. with the three prototypes that already sit around at the launch site they theoretically could lift the entire mass of the ISS into orbit when used in expendable mode. right now. this year, for peanuts of money compared to what it historically took to get the space station there. BLOODY HELL! thats already epic and it just can get better from here on.

well done Scott and X, - after seeing that - there is so much potential with incorrect re entry angle and all - the internal pressure vapour a bit left field = room for improvement - so a 2 month wait ! - till the net fix?, time to scratch Artemis and focus the real space ship.

My uneducated opinion would be that the booster still needs that entry burn although I assume they don't have the fuel margin for that.

Booster Relight for Landing Burn, was still at Supersonic speed, that's a lot of airflow and pressure in to the exhaust bells to overcome. Might need some apparatus that sticks out from the staging ring in to the airflow to slow it down more. Does look like they used the FTS to make sure anything reaching the ocean was shredded down to unrecoverable sized parts. Starship looked to be steering its way to slower speeds on re-entry.
Looks like Aussie space nerds could book flights to Broome and almost be able to watch the re-entry.
Orbit looked to take Starship over Diego Garcia, there's some implications for ya!.

It didn't reach orbital velocity, so it didn't "reach orbit". It just crashed a little later than the others. No significant progress has been made since the last flight, except that the device did not explode prematurely.
We are still very, very far from bringing the booster and the machine to the ground in one piece... very, very far...

I was so hyped during the stream i didnt even notice, that booterwas at 0km already. I thougth it just blew up somewhere in the atmosphere. But by the looks of it, it just hammered into the ocean like a meteorite. If so there must be evidence somewhere in seismic recordings. Hydrophones or Ocean bottom seismometers in the area should see this with ez. AMaizng recap. Thx.

Was this empty and with no payload - would it need and be able to take more fuel if taking a payload? I assume this will increase the motor burn duration or pressure/temp.
