Is my life a lie? Should I be hammock camping instead of looking for solo bivy tents??
ОтветитьI'm a NE Ohio guy myself and you ain't kidding about the briers and multi floral rose bushes lol...and this time of year it's possible to get all 4 seasons in 1 day haha. If your from Ohio then you just know.
ОтветитьGreat Vid thanks, What size rope on the outside of the pack?
ОтветитьExtra pair of socks, toothbrush. A bar of soap. Washcloth. Multi-functionality. Along with fire kit, if toothpaste/soap etc runs out, ashes can serve. Appreciate your vid. The Orca model fits your cup gear awesome. I have the 32oz bottle, 24oz bottom cup, stove, but went with Olicamp top cup(stamped not printed).
ОтветитьNice pack and system...would have been nice to see the shoulder straps and hip belt!
ОтветитьCowabunga.!
ОтветитьDavid I love watching your videos just a quick question, how come you don't have any water filtering equipment or system in your pack. Secondly is there a good setup for a year round long term setup. Like bugout style pack .
ОтветитьDave,. I believe that this is one of the best if not the best videos you have ever done. Great job and very informative and useful.

I wonder if there's a water bottle that will nestle with that 32 oz. Bail pot ? And will it fit in the bottle carrier ?
Ответить💁🏼♂️The most important thing to remember is to triple bag both your rain gear and tarp and place them inside your sleeping bag, inside the stuff sack, inside the bear can. That way when an unanticipated deluge cracks open dumping all over you and it’s 48 degrees and you’re wearing cotton nose-to-toes, your rain gear is nice and safe and dry. OH! annnd bring a poop tube! This mankind crapping in the woods business has absolutely, positively got to stop! Isn’t 10,000 years enough time to learn-unh?🤤
🥴🥊
Love the pack! Conveniently, the side pocket can hold the 64oz bottle with nesting cup no problem.
ОтветитьHey Dave, where do you pick up your Tyvek sheets from?
ОтветитьJust a correction Dave, the lightsaver max is only has a 10W solar panel.
ОтветитьThank you so much for your videos. Its helping me learn to pack for survival. I looked at many bugout bags and they go to the extreme, I don't believe they can carry it all lol. God bless you sir.
Ответить22 pounds max. full loaded Backpack, is what I can manage easily for most trails and distances. After that, at 23 to 24 pounds, things begin to feel not super heavy, but not what I'd like for long or hard trails. 37lt to 40lt backpacks, is perfect for that kind of load.
ОтветитьDoes anybody know, what's the mat that Dave called "sheet of tie back" please ?
ОтветитьThe time stamp on the thumbnail blocks out the full title so it says "Back Pack Analy". Ya, some part of me will always be 12.
Ответитьthat was actually great information.
ОтветитьLove the video. My load out is very similar but I don’t have the solar charger, that’s on my list now. One thing I also have on the outside on a clip is a pair of mechanics gloves. I find my self wearing them a lot in the bush even though I’m not much of a glove guy when I’m at home or work.
ОтветитьI cannot seem to find that kevlar waypoint marker anywhere, is it still available?
ОтветитьWow. Mr Dave is coming around, finally. 10 years ago I unsubscribed because he pushed his 7lbs wax cotton tarp , axe, 12lbs wax cotton pack. He still has a way to go, but he is evolving
ОтветитьGreat video. Would use garbage bag inside to keep sleep system dry. The brain of the pack could be separated and used as a haversack. Nice system
ОтветитьAwesome video
ОтветитьWould you still have a haversack with this setup? If so what would be in it?
ОтветитьRewatched. Again. These simple, real-world videos are valuable. When I am packing out, I watch this video again. It's amazing what I forget to pack, even after hitting the woods for almost 50 years.
ОтветитьI’m not a survivalist or even close to that. I do however, do a lot of hiking and backpacking. Extremely valuable information and knowledge!
ОтветитьHey Dave , I'm not calling you out or anything so please , I'm not trying to be disrespectful or a prick . Forgive me if it comes out thataway .
Just before this video I was watching one of yours from 9 years ago about how you felt one did not need a First Aid Kit or a Personal Care Kit out and about . I see how you and other instructors and influencers change , evolve , and learn new things and incorporate as much Techknowlogy as pissible despite what era or century it comes from . I just feel reassured that a lot of the Pathfinder point of view is always learning and figuring out how once p9pular ideas can be relavant again . Thank you , Dave .
l know people have opinions likes dislike . my wife and i do hike/camp 4-6 times a year and we might carry some differant gear . cooking we use small stove w fuel tabs or fire we just carry a canteen cup food that can eat cold or hot alittle extra food if things go bad maps i love topo maps shows terrain little streams etc . some say you need a ham radio my thought person you talking to could live 5 states away . we tried a sat phone 2 reasons where we go has poor or no service and where we live poor service do carry a gps in case of emergency can give exact coordinates all electric gear is rechargeable both of us carry a solar battery pack plus all normal gear food water fire kit etc . my pack pushing 35 lbs packs multi use do carry side arms both of us thoughts tips etc
ОтветитьWhere did you get your food pouch?
ОтветитьWhat is the name of the pack and where can i find it?
ОтветитьBeen following this Man for years! I live outdoors in a tent permanently all year round this is the only knowledge i need
ОтветитьLove the idea of the tyvek sheet. I managed to find a gum blanket on ebay that i use!
ОтветитьHello, what would be the best if I am traveling to different zones in the country but dont have place to store them . What would be the best choice for shelter considering I am trying to pack light as possible
Ответитьany idea when you will get more pathfinder packs in stock?
ОтветитьBest video on the survival pack.
ОтветитьIve used a basic thermarest, self inflatable for years on end. Never a problem out in nature. When it finally punctured after like ten years it was not in the field but in an airport where someone had left an invisible shard glass between two tiles. It was easily field repaired. Still I upgraded to the more cold weather oriented thermarest one, arctic neo air or something like that because I hike in the arctic for months at time and live off spearfishing so I get cooled down pretty significantly in the sea every day. I just use a paper-thin lightweight tyvek foorprint underneath my tarp and bug tent inner, and I sleep like a baby on that thing on coarse rock, in bushes and brambles, on stony beaches on the forest floor, etc. Never an issue.
ОтветитьGreat video!
ОтветитьI would like to know how someone can afford half of this stuff I'm 56 worked all my life and i cant afford no path finder equipment
Ответить30lb is quite a lot. I usually limit myself to about 10kg (just over 20lb).
ОтветитьI love Dave's wisdom and all the knowledge shared throughout the years.
ОтветитьWhere can I buy the backpack in the video?
ОтветитьMe and my friends learned long ago that sometimes you don't need an ax...we just burnt our logs in half, but the fire needs to be large and there needs to be ample coal/ embers in the fire bed to maintain burning the logs.
ОтветитьGreat video great explinations. The only thing. It's induction. Conduction sure but induction is more accurate
ОтветитьWhere can I purchase pack
ОтветитьGreat information about how to pack a rucksack among other things. But he forgot something, someone may have already mentioned it before me, where is the bankline?😁
ОтветитьThe saw is probably the best thing that came along for outdoor activity in a long time lot safer for people to use. Takes a long time to master a ax. An ax can and will remove toes.
