Star Citizen Ship Leaks - CIG Speaks Out On Misinformation & Spoilers

Leaks happen. It's a shame but not the end of the world. Nice fo know there mah be 2 additional ships. I will hold off looki g for them and see them at the IAE to get the most out of it.

Kind of curious on the RSI Galaxy, I'm thinking it might be a better version of the Constellation. What I mean is there is allot they have learned on ship building since the constellation was designed and there are just aspects of it they cant improve without changing how the ship looks. Both ships should be good to have regardless.

I'm looking forward to upgrading my cutty to a spirit 8)

That's very honest of you. I agree, leaks don't really serve anyone until the feature/item is ready to come out. If that happens, I find it frustrates the entire community.

I'm fine with leaks generially. I think you're right that certain leaks are over the top.

They are crying about a power point getting leeked. I'd be more worried about what staff member keeps sabotaging the elevators at random every patch.

Yea, spoilers are a bummer for the devs who get some satisfaction at the big reveal of all their hard work. It's kind of a buzz kill.

I'm pleased with your general stance of generally not commenting on "leaks", @Bored and I typically avoid videos on leaks such as the main one in the spotlight today.
I will look at 'written' leaks, but take what I see with a good dash of seasoning - Its usually best to wait until something is in one's "hand" before jumping up and down about things - The other thing is: specifications on things leaked may very well change just before or at "final" build, so in the end, the veracity of such leaks is generally limited!

CIG addressed it well in my opinion very professional as well as apologizing to the community who got spoiled or excited for fake leaks

Too much potential for spoilers in leaks, so I don't want them. Also, by now, we ALL should know that one should not believe everything they see/read on the internet!

I think its kind of sad for the developers that were excited to reveal this and see the floodgate of reaction rather than the trickle that is going to happen now. They unfortunately do get so much shit from a surprising amount of the community for anything they do. It feels like this was stolen from them. O well, I am still excited to jump in this weekend and see the new stuff.

As someone who work in video game industrie I don't really like leaks but anyway that appends all the time

I don’t put to much faith in leaks but I enjoy reading or better yet watching videos on them. Even more so if I’m at work while watching 😂

That is one of the saddest side about leaks (apart from ruining the surprise effect) that misinformation can lead to too much expectations...

I won't lie, as soon as a I hear any information on new stuff, I get a little excited ... I do kind of fall in the middle ground, where I don't love leaks, and I don't hate them - more of, "well this could be interesting". I also take these things as just hints and a possibility - with a grain of salt. For example, I knew there seemed to be something glimpsed in the IAE trailer as a new ship - then some speculation and supposed leak information was out there, but yet I'll still be excited to get the official reveal and details. So I suppose in a lot of cases I treat the leak info as speculation based on data mined info. Now, this other internal slides leak I didn't hear about, but I think that's a little crappy - but there's always a bad apple right?

Trusting leaks is foolish, just be patient and cig will tell you the truth

I enjoy seeing both what comes out and what was left on the cutting board.

I don't enjoy the direction that GIG have been going lately where they share less of their working and ideas and only have the release versions. It just seems like they've drifted away from the "open development" that helped make the project so popular in the early days.

And as for the wellbeing of the devs... Tbh, that speaks more to how poorly devs are treated BY THEIR OWN COMPANIES in the industry, not trying to blame external factors like employees who leak or the community for reading them.
Perhaps they should instead be asking themselves if they've created the situation where by something as trivial as a spoiled surprise would require them having to be brought back from the edge.

Galaxy was exciting but just goes to show leaks are all reliable.

I think CIG handled the situation quite nicely, and personally I do enjoy the element of surprise when something unexpected/unannounced is released as a "cherry on top"

Commentary here is confusing. As of this writing, Cig has released every ship leaked as it was leaked. Cutter and C8R are on point. Galaxy was alluded to in the Whitley video Cig released… so what I’ve learned from this is, trust the leaks, Cig is mad that you can trust the leaks, BoredGamer is often showing a skewed neutrality with the constant favor towards cig.

I I’m excited to see what they release as well and I’m optimistic this will be a 1.0 game within 25 years, but Cig is a Goliath of failed expectations. Except when they validate the leaks within 4 weeks.
