You should remove the gear before you pull it. You may damage the gear
Ответить@Auto Repair Guys I opened up my window and yes what you said is exactly what's wrong with mine. It's full of rust. I knew it was probably full of rust when I couldn't pull out the bolt easily.
ОтветитьWow, so when something does not work you take it apart and fix it instead of throwing it away and buying a new one. I'm going to guess you were not raised in America.
ОтветитьU the first guys to show stripping and cleaning the motor. Other you tubers waste your time.
ОтветитьThank you 👌
In my case,
- I unmount the rotor shaft, the round lid hidding the cog
- clean the moisture in the nylon or plastic cog plus where it seats, there was some water and rust
- dry it all with a clean rug - I didn't use any oil or liquid
- regrease it, with some drops at the cog axle and where the cog seats. Plus 1 drop at the end of the rotor shaft and before the worm screw, I guess is where the rotor shaft seats on the plastic box.
- and it work again.
That save some hundred euros and some twist and turns with the family car, until next time. Brand dealers charged me 230€ for a new motor, no pieces at the car scrapping dealears around me, and the asian copies start from 100€ but I wasn't sure about the compliance as the pictures didn't look same same as the one I have. So it was a good solution.
Thanks man for that
ОтветитьVery helpful video
ОтветитьBe careful pulling the worm screw out. I broke the contacts on mine when I pulled it out. Definitely turn the copper spindle before pulling it out. My plastic collar with contacts broke because I didn’t pull it together.
ОтветитьThank you for this.
I used this method on my own car (a Focus), and didn't even have to remove the mechanism --- in fact I could not remove the mechanism, since the window was stuck in the closed position, so I could not lower it to undo the glazing bolts and remove the regulator.
Instead I removed the power connector and then the magnetic cover and pulled out the motor, just as in your video. The motor had seized, and after fixing it, I pushed it back in (taking hold of the window glass and pushing it down and up a bit helps to get the worm screw back in), reconnected the power, and --- to my amazement and by God's grace --- it worked!
If I'd taken the car to a garage, they would have probably just destroyed the regulator (and quite possibly the glass, too) and fitted a new one: it would have cost a fortune. Thanks again!
Crazy not one negative comment???
Ответитьi would definitely deep clean those worm gear and grease them up.
ОтветитьHi my rear quater window won't open all I can hear is a click on that side everytime I try to open it what can it be? Btw the same switch controls the front which works
ОтветитьPerfect Video ! Love what you did hear - I learned something good - thank you !!!
ОтветитьThanks
I give that ago it’s stilly money for a new one
Thanks guys, guys that was really great guys. You guys, make guys like me, like guys that are like, really good at mechanics.
Ответить😊😊😊😊😊
ОтветитьAn interesting idea pur forth by another commenter, Maarten Verheyen, is to put 18V to the motor contacts momentarily; this could break it free from it's stranglehold of rust and corrosion. If it doesn't drive it free right away, quit or you chance burning out the windings etc. which will render the motor unrepairable if you need to do a disassembly repair like our two hosts demonstrate. I don't know if it is possible but if it breaks free with the 18V push, you might be able to spray inside the motor if an access hole exists, or perhaps drill one(avoid getting metal cuttings inside by using a rare earth magnet). This could work if the motor is not too far gone, in which case it would have to be removed from the vehicle, and taken apart as demonstrated😅
ОтветитьLast sunday I briefly put 18V from a Bosch PSR screw machine battery on a what I thought was a dead window motor on my Trax, it came back to life immediately. Worked like a charm. 😅
Ответитьwell done if i had figured that would be more easier to tackle for my audi tt mrk1 window motor if its possible. instead i brought two donor motors. this is more simple than cleaning a e scooter wheel hub lol great job guys
ОтветитьThanks man You are good teacher!
ОтветитьTurnnn
ОтветитьThis is what I was thinking of doing instead of buying a new one, we will see how it goes. my motor is a mess to take out with all the assembly. UPDATE:: I cleaned mine today the housing was rusted inside , rust everywhere! the armature was also rusty. Cleaned it and works like new!
Ответитьok guys ,great video !!!
ОтветитьWhat if the cog turns fine with the motor out but won't turn with the motor back in?
