You are awesome and inspiring!
ОтветитьDo we put the mulch immediately after you put the cardboard? And how long after that to put compost?
ОтветитьI’m pretty sure it’s illegal to grow food in lawn space where I’m from, but Fem I’m going to do it anyway.
Feeding people is more important than invasive grass.
Like and sub'd 🫛 I'm an architectural drafter close to your area and am focusing on sustainable design. We should link up and design some stuff.
ОтветитьGreat video Curtis Stone said there are 40 million acres of lawns in America alone. That's alot of cultivation space. 7 billion gallons a day to water grass is nonsense.
ОтветитьThank you for all this useful information. Im working and learning. This is my 3 year but I feel I know nothing. But after ur video i can see how much I have learned. Please do step 2. Special how to treat problems like dusty mold.
ОтветитьAmazing. Thanks.
ОтветитьI love your video! Your advice is great. Thank you!
ОтветитьAmazing I didn't know so much of the food was grown locally in the wars
Ответитьthat exterior water line should be protected from the sun with insulation like a pool noodle style foam. Just an FYI and prevent brittle/breakage.
ОтветитьGreat video!
One thing you might want to mention to your viewers is that there might be city codes that require a certain amount of their front or back yards to be grass. Don’t want anyone to get into trouble or have to rip their garden out.
I live in Utah and there are several things that would be a little different here, but the general principles are great! (We used to not be allowed to collect rainwater! But that has changed, now you just need a permit if it’s over 100 gallons.)
I've recently been reading that rainwater collection off your roof carries toxins from roof material unless your roof is metal and that it should only be used for non-edible plants. I was so disappointed to learn this.
ОтветитьMy hoa would not be happy 😮
ОтветитьLoved the video Rob. Thank you so much for all of your tips and hard work!
ОтветитьAbolish HOAs
ОтветитьInspired, subscribed and grinning from ear to ear 😎🌼❣️🌻. Florida native here😎🌴🌺🦩. Let’s do it people! What if people collaborated and did this all around our cities?!?!? 👍🏻🌺
ОтветитьMan, I wish this would catch on! The chemicals used on lawns is terrible! Think if all the food that could be feeding the homeless and everyone, IF ONLY❣️
ОтветитьI didn’t k ow rain collection it planting in front yards was legal in Florida! A native here!
ОтветитьDoes towns allow this?
ОтветитьMy lawn has a plastic mesh underneath it. Unexpected
ОтветитьWhen I used cardboard, zillions of termites nested under it.
Ответитьthat's great! thank you for sharing
ОтветитьI can't imagine any company giving anything away for free these days, especially not mulch, but I admit that I haven't asked any yet.
ОтветитьThank you for that video! I can’t wait to finally have a lawn garden. I am in an apartment now with little space. Any suggestions for what I can grow inside?
ОтветитьMoringa loves hot weather and sand and is a superfood
ОтветитьHow do you combat bugs like the big banana spiders that come with the tree 😅? I’m going to tune my front an back yard into a garden
Ответитьyou are so awesome Rob. thank you so much for the inspiration and information brother!
ОтветитьI seriously wanna do this but money and winter are preventing me
ОтветитьRob, what perrienials did you choose to use?
ОтветитьMy cats shit all over :'(
Ответитьingredients you need:
carboard to supress grass, kill it and break down. add mulch (tree cutting/shreds) on top of it.
- mulch holds moisture and is environment for important microorganisms. mulch overtime breaks into nutrients you need.
- mulch turns to SOIL. can get organic soil if possible
- sun
Thank you so much! This was just what I needed and was straight to the point for starting out a food forest from a lawn!
Ответитьthank you for sharing your ideas for gardnig tips and technique.
ОтветитьNice one Subscribed Please keep it comin
ОтветитьDidn't see a single edible.
ОтветитьVery informative Rob. Cheers, mate
ОтветитьGood video i live in the northeast and i stopped watering my grass years ago. I now have white clover growing and it looks great and the bees love it too.
ОтветитьIn Australia, the local council forbids you to do this outside your fence perimeter. You would receive a letter to rip it out & then a fine if you didn’t comply💔
ОтветитьJust make sure you don't get black walnut mulch. Very little will grow in that.
ОтветитьWhat a complete yet concise video! You’re sharing such valuable information here. Thanks very much and congrats!
ОтветитьI live in the state that has NO snakes issues. We’re moving to Jacksonville next yr for my husband’s job. I’m scared of snakes and wanna know how to prevent them
ОтветитьI have a question so you said we have to put cardboard for the grass but what happens if it rains? Is very rainy in my country
ОтветитьJune 2021 we moved from Colorado to coastal southwest Florida. We immediately started tearing out the backyard. I piled up cut-off palm fronds and pruned tree banches and then I piled the torn out sod upside down on this pile which is basically an eighty foot long berm in front of the backyard fence. Next we dug in into the sterile sandy soil huge piles of leaves from our property and our neighbor gladly gave us all her leaves. Step-by-step were are turning the sterile backyard soil into a rich growing medium for plants and trees. One unfortunate set back in terms of gardening is that when the temperatures started heating up into the 90's suddenly our awesome pepper crop was decimated by some kind of wilt disease -- so it's back to the drawing board and now we are covering the garden with clear plastic and solarizing it for several months.
ОтветитьHis yard looks like a bunch of weeds!
It doesn’t look very professionally done!
Totally awesome. Garden on! 👍😎🇨🇦🌲
ОтветитьWell done buddy. Between foraging and hunting and gardening one doesn't even have to go to the grocery store often.
ОтветитьAnd I thought I had hard clay soil. Nope, just a 100 year old lawn. I put down the cardboard and straw/mulch and now I have the purdiest dirt I've ever seen. 👍
ОтветитьThanks You gracias por subtitularlo los escucho en inglés pero siento que se pierde un poco la información al ir leyendo los en inglés más para mí que no soy tan bueno 👏👏
