You are choosing shitty choice games.
The Mass Effect Trilogy is the prime example of how it could work well. I played the 2nd and 3rd, then started over from the 1st and exported the character to continue it on the 2nd and 3rd... It completly changed the game and characters present.
That said, I respectfully disagree. Your opinion is based in games you played in your generation while excluding the games that made it work. I miss games that challenged the genre. Ex: Deus Ex, Mass Effect, SW: KOTOR, Baldurs Gate (1,2 and 3), Fallout 1, 2, 3 and NV, after 4 it all goes to shit. Cheers!
