Now that you have the mac, I'd be curious to see if Asahi linux is usable as a daily driver

Recently, I am having a similar experience that have to mainly use mac Macbook Pro 14 inch for a month. I feel most of my experience aligned with him except two points.

The windows management for macOS is very different from both Ubuntu and windows, but it is not nearly as bad as he said. The reason why he had such bad experience because he did not even enable the windows manager(it is called stage manager) for macOS(at least in his video, he has neither shown in the footage nor mention with voice that he did). Stage managers can allow you "minimize" windows and group windows together. With stage manager and magnet(a paid third party app that has the same functions as Rectangle but works better with stage manager), I had very similar experience on macOS and windows.

For the dragging file "lag" thing, the "lag" is for you to enter the fold, not move the file to the folder. If you just want to move the file, it is the same as other OS: you just drag the file on top of the target folder and release without waiting. I forget about how it works in the graphic version of Ubuntu, but I am certain that placing a file a few second over a folder to enter it is not even a feature in windows.

I don't have a workflow that involves VMs in my local computer, and I am always having cloud resource to work around software problems. Personally, I have a real great experience with the mbp, which is my first macOS devices. After all, you can adapt the operations of the system, but you can't get this much battery life with this much compute power in other laptops(at least at this moment).

Mac, not MAC.
MAC is the physical address of a network card.

Apple knows better than you what you want, you just don't understand the goodwill and effort Apple puts into you as your older and wiser brother. As with the iPhone and Apple Watch.

I can’t believe macOS doesn’t have window snapping/tiling that is actually useful. Even windows has that

I’ve grown to dislike the apple ecosystem but have been using a MacBook for many years now, and I have to say that half the issues you point out become non-issues once you get familiar with the keyboard shortcuts.

I will never understand why people would prefer a paid, proprietary, OS from an evil company when you have the option to get a much more superior OS like ubuntu for free

The reason the camera looks great is the uncompressed connection to the SoC, so better processing and no tiny USB webcam chip.

No, it's very esoteric.. You have to hover on the green button to do window tiling or maximise.

I use both platforms. But have to say (not well known shortcut), you can enlarge an app using the option key held down when clicking the green icon. Also, you can cut and paste, by clicking copy and then holding down the option key when pasting and choosing Move.

Well I can only say one thing: You’re using the Apple products wrong, if you what to get the most out of them you need to immerse yourself in the ecosystem to get the full benefits. This is like using a Chromebook and refusing to use Google’s services like GMail and so on. I like Linux, Mac’s and Windows pc’s but I use all of them the way they were intended. There’s weaknesses in all of them and also strengths in all of them. But fighting a system to try to make it into something it’s not will only make you sad.

I would agree, Mac not ready for Enterprise or techies. No Cut and Paste a game killer. Made for Content creators and people that use web browsing only, bought my wife one. Sold my Pro13 M1 and really miss the battery life and laptop in general. DO NOT miss the OS.

OK... I tried to be constructive in my comment on your other video. But bashing an OS is just the same as bashing a programming language: if you hate it, it's probably either because 1. you're not used to it, 2. you're using it the wrong way, or 3. it's not the right tool for the job.

But OSes differ from programming languages in that, any of them can do anything! It really is only a matter of accepting to get used to it.
Anything new is disturbing. If you stick to it, it becomes natural. Simple as that.

Having been kind of forced into using Windows because, as a tech instructor, I needed to be able to reproduce my students' issues, I must honestly say that it really wasn't that bad.

Just because you decided that it's "not for you", doesn't mean that it couldn't be.

All I want from a laptop and OS is the feeling that it doesn't exist. That I can express what I want without any further thought as to specifics or how it does so. I agree that the desktop is not always as intuitive, but macbook are just so unbelievably stable and consistent. I know that when I open it everything will be the perfectly working and I still have battery, and so many small things are designed logically like how everything works together. I always hated windows because it always broke and was inconsistent and illogically designed, I used linux as an escape, but now that I can afford MacOS and their hardware it is perfect for me.

I've been tiling windows side by side, adjusting them and copying and pasting between them since I bought my first macbook pro in 2016, and the feature was likely there years before that. The fact that you don't know how to use a feature doesn't make it non existent.Same goes for several "lacking" feature you mention in this video. For the record, I also use Linux and. sometimes, have Windows. But MacOS is my daily driver because I can do anything faster and much easier in it. And of course, is WAY more realible than the other 2.

Ive used linux in the past for a few years and macOS is just exactly what I want. I hate having to understand how a computer works to use it. Just let me do whatever i need to do without having to fight my OS. I know not everyone wants something like this but i dont understand why anyone would want to fight their OS to do the things they want to. I dont want to know how the kernel works to do my STEM work, just let me do my stuff in peace.

Any switch to a new OS feels weird. Moreover the linuxes are also awkward out of the box - all of them, and you need to customize them...
It is the same with the Mac - sure, it less customizable, but it compensates with some other good features.
I personally hate how it does Alt+Tab, but there is an app that makes it Windows like.
On other hand, I love how smooth is everything related to media - no wonder why all best video/sound tools are for Mac.
And last but not least - their hardware just works, and works well.
Even for a Linux machine - I would buy an used Intel Mac! :D

Disclaimer: I don't like OS X for the reasons you demonstrated and more. However, there is something you are missing. OS X can be operated on extensive keyboard shortcuts. That said, the keyboard shortcuts are non-intuitive and don't perform the operation you're expecting in every scenario. All the same, I would like to see you explore and demonstrate them.

Only watched a few minutes.

You can copy and "move" files == cut and paste

You can change the drag and drop delay or just hit space to make it instant.

This is just the usual clickbait bs:

"This doesn't work exactly as I'm used to but I'm too lazy to find out more."

Do better, buddy.

This is just Apple's design philosophy, "Make things just work." Pretty much nothing more. I've been a Windows/Linux user since I've been using computers at a young age. I bought into the hype back in 2015 and gave the MacBook Pro of that year a try. I can't explain how frustrated Mac OS X made me, I felt like I was taking a step backwards. I got rid of it pretty quick, been on Linux or Windows since then. Mostly just use Windows for my job and that's about it.
