Maryland Farm & Harvest spotlights the dangers that farmers encounter on an almost daily basis… where farm accidents have upended families and in some instances taken lives.
Agriculture is the largest commercial industry in Maryland, it’s also one of the most dangerous. We’ll celebrate the life of Hank Suchting, with his family and learn about his dream Branchwater Farms and the tragic accident that took his life. Not all accidents result in death, but the aftermath of a farm accident can be financially and physically debilitating to the farm and family. In the case of Joey McHenry it took the love of his family and the Kennedyville farm community to keep both him and his farm alive. Community involvement is key in supporting the Maryland farmer. The Maryland Grain Producers Association have been working alongside Nationwide Insurance to award much needed grain tubes to fire departments, with the hope that through training and awareness the safety of Maryland farmers will increase in the future.
