Playing around with RPG Maker 2003 when I was still a thirteen year old boy has been the reason that I decided to dive into game development. It's so nostalgic to see this at 30 years old!
ОтветитьBeen developing on MZ for about a year. Saw 2k3 on steam for $3, couldn’t resist.
Once I’m finished my main game I’m definitely going to develop something in 2k3!
Um actually END ROLL was RPGMaker 2000, not 2003 🤓
ОтветитьYesterday I have started uploading my two games gameplays that I make at 2007, using rpgmaker2003. I forgot those games in a old chest. However, both is using portuguese language.
ОтветитьBEBDER GAME!!! i made good friends with bebder for a bit. also shoutout to Grim's Hollow dev. had no clue rm2003 didn't allow ruby code. as a MV dev, it brings me much appreciation.
ОтветитьI agree with those cool games people make in their bedroom or something have something special on it. 💯
ОтветитьLong live rpg maker 2003, and may I someday finish a game xD
Ответитьit's seems interesting to think what lays await in a hidden.
ОтветитьI'm currently using rm2k3 because it was on sale and I'm very much enjoying working around the restrictions
ОтветитьYou are probably stuck in 2003 because you are too old / tired by now to forget everything you learned in 2003 and change your mindset for the newer versions... still you should recommend the newer versions to everyone. I recently played a game in MV featuring the octopath traveler combat. It plays so fucking good. Enemies have up to 10 weaknesses and their armor also breaks. Also you have BP and can spend your points however you want. This shit could never be done in 2003.
Ответить2003 sucks so hard... the only reason why there are still people who like it, is because there are some awesome games done in that engine.
If they had access to the newer versions they would surely have used the newer versions.
cars
they are cute 🔫⊂(◉‿◉)つ
"many still waiting to be discovered in old message boards" Man there was some GOLD hidden in those.
i remember i was on some old rpgmaker forums a tooooon back in the day,
one game i remember fondly was an rpgmaker 2k3 game - you were in this town that iirc a plague hit, you're time travelling to try and find what caused it and stop it
it was so good and i wish i could find it again.
is xp better? or no, the steampages for them are a little vague to me as to what can be done with them
im trying to find an easy to learn game engine where i can make a good semi historical semi fantasy tanks and armoured warfare game, any advice? especially since i can't program, dyscalculia and dyslexia are not a good combination
Bro give it to big developers raw with that speech 😂💯
ОтветитьWell... My favorite Ahriman's Prophecy made with RPGMaker 2003... So yeah
ОтветитьGod, I love anything and everything 2k3. It's still my favorite RPG Maker. And as for recommendations...
I'd love it if you (or anyone reading this) could check out my game, Lobby Loitering. I released it on Steam, itch, and RMN back in May, free on all platforms. It's an exploration/adventure game about hotels and liminal spaces. I poured my whole soul into it, so any feedback on it would be invaluable. Thank you!
can you do front facing (Like Dragon Quest) battle systems for 2k3?
Ответитьrpg maker 2000/2003 are so awesome!!! i've always preferred the visual style of them over mv/mz
ОтветитьI got started with RMXP right around the time it came out. Something is still so magical about 2k3 though. I really do want to make a game in it some day, but I'm not sure I have a reason to. Like you said, MZ supports 16x16 tiles now right out of the gate and so many other QOL features. I still think 2k3 is an awesome little engine with its own unique charm. I also love the RTP.
ОтветитьBecause RM is one of the laziest, most stagnant programs that ever existed.
It remained virtually the same for nearly 20 years now, with some *minor exceptions/upgrades here and there, which is almost embarrassing to call it even an "upgrade" considering how much time has passed. So I can fully understand if someone experienced in 2003 doesn't want to use a newer one, although new users have no reason to pick 2003 now tho
One day, hopefully soon… My commercial 2K3 game will be completed, as well. Been using the engine since probably about 2003. Made a few small projects, but nothing ever grand-scale. Trying to change that!
Ответитьthank you yume nikki
ОтветитьI miss good ol days early 2000s 😢
ОтветитьI was wanting to make games myself, I'm even starting a college course in games deign. but I was looking for a more beginner friendly start. would you suggest this for me?
ОтветитьThanks for the mention Riggy! Great video and lots of great games freatured, too
Ответитьcool
ОтветитьHeh you think RPG maker 2003 is retro? Try making a game in RPG maker for ps1. (or ps2) 💀
ОтветитьMan, this video has made me want to try using 2k3 again! My personal favorite RM is XP cause I like working with limitations but I think the sprite size alone drove me away from 2k and 2k3, but it may be right up my alley!
Another reason XP is my favorite: I love RPG Maker horror games, and there are certainly are a lot of amazing horror games made with 2k and 2k3, but Ao Oni is definitely my favorite horror game.
The Ao Oni community alone has made THOUSANDS of fangames, It's like 2k3's huge, forgotten catalog except it's all focused on one main concept and due to a LOT of those fangames being amateur games simply made from passion, it's really fun to see how everyone uses different ideas and mechanics and meshes them with the core gameplay of Ao Oni (also a lot of them are really bad lmao)
This video is great btw, I will definitely give 2k3 and it's games another shot!
I first started back in 2002 with RPGM 2k when a friend had it and i was blown away by it, i remember going to his house and we together made a game, it was a blast, and then i first purchased my own PC in 2003 and had a copy of RPGM2003, i made a few full blown games but time passed and i had less and less time, so i eventually left it.
Now 20 years later i want to make another game, i installed my old copy of 2k3 but the fonts are horrible, if i purchase the steam version fixes that?
i can never let go of rm2k/3. the newer ones with the fancy resolutions just dont feel the same
ОтветитьIt's always fun trying out old stuff, I went back and try gba games from time to time.
ОтветитьI recently played Rise of the Third Power and it was one of my favorite RPGs ever. Then it said RPGMaker 2003 at the bottom and i was thoroughly confused (im JUST now learning rpg maker) but i still find it hard to believe that that game was made with just 2k3? Especially since the kickstarter mentioned needing to get some things specially coded that rpgmaker couldnt produce???
ОтветитьAs a diehard rm2k3 fanatic, this video made my heart skip
Ответитьis it possible to create an RTS (loosely) in this engine?
ОтветитьIs there an alternative to rpg maker?
ОтветитьForrest of Drizzling rain remake is so beautiful. I love regular rpg maker horror or regular games with good story and an edge/danger; such as the crooked man or the boogie man....but the way the remake looked was so beautiful.
ОтветитьHow do I open the set up file ? I’m sure how to do it or where to open it. I’m on a MacBook Air m2
ОтветитьReally inspiring!
ОтветитьI'm still trying to find this amazing RPG Maker 2000 game that was an action RPG. The only thing I remember is the hero's name was Rick. I think it was called Rick's Adventure or Adventures of Rick, I could be wrong. But it was absolutely amazing especially on how he used the music. I do believe I finished it (yes it wasn't a demo it was full) but it had one of the most badass fights in it done in full ARPG style.
