"The sound is amazing." - yes. I often said that if you had a 12-gage pump, if someone was breaking in, all you had to do was pump it. Even if you don't have a shell. As anyone who knows that sound will not want to FAFO. If I was somewhere I was not supposed to be and heard the sound of a shotgun pump, I would need an immediate change of pants.

An "automatic Rifle" is a "Machine gun". LOL

A Rifle is a "Sniper". Just some rifles are better sniper rifles then others. A .22 short can be a really low grade "sniper" rifle.

Kicked by a horse? No. The recoil probably seemed worse because he is leaning back.

When I first started shooting, I took about 5 total hours of instruction before I felt comfortable enough to go on my own (I had 5 1-hour sessions with the instructor). That's just me - most people probably feel OK shooting after an hour or so.

Guns recoil. Don't fight it. Keep a firm grip and let the weapons do as they are designed. A well made firearm does not punish it's operator. Be safe and have fun!

First time I ever shot my father's .45 1911 when I was 10 years old, I got nailed by the recoil on the top of my hand. Hurt like hell. He said check your grip and shoot again. I wasn't allowed to move out of battery mode. I hit the target dead center on the second shot...and the first was not that bad. That's when dad decided I was a very good pistol shooter.
I did go on to many, many rifles. I always hated the Garand because I hated the clip. Seems fast, but can cut you like a razor with a wrong move and was very hard for a pre-teen.

As you're saying you never touched a gun, im sitting here watching you and doing holster draw practice. I carry daily and have been shooting since 5 years old. It is much much better to get some training before going to the range. This instructor did great from the bits shown. The range instructor was garbage, he was not holding the rifle well and there was little instruction. I shoot my m1 often, it is a full power rifle but it does not kick like a horse. There are many ranges you can shoot a rifle w a scope. You should 100% shoot when you come. It clearly interests you. Excited to see your vids after to come

I think one of the things that all these “people shoot guns in America for the first time” videos show is that most people here who shoot guns aren’t just crazed like the stereotypes. They are thoughtful and precise. Guns can be dangerous but also fun in a controlled environment.

A .50BMG round started as an Anti-Aircraft/Anti-Armour round, today it's a long range target/sniper round (1500-2500 yards). Classroom training is boring so most will edit out. The "Unloaded" gun is what kills too often.

He was a little shy about the recoil of the M1 Garand, and was letting the butt of the rifle slide down a bit onto his bicep, which will hurt. You have to keep the butt pulled back into the soft part of your shoulder firmly, lean slightly forward and rest your cheek on the top of the buttstock. That way, the recoil is dampened by your shoulder and is more of a soft shove than a kick. You could shoot a rifle like that all day with a firm hold and have no bruising or being sore. If it hurts you when you fire, your hold is probably not correct.

My gun safety class was three days long, and included practice shooting .22LR in both semi-auto and revolver, .38 revolver, 9mm semi-auto, .40 semi-auto, .44 revolver, and a single shot of a .50 (due to ammo cost). I then paid for one hour of individual instructor time to try shooting a shotgun, both 20 gauge and 12 gauge. However, my range did not have rifles. They had plastic guns that were to scale and of accurate weight for us to do our first practice proper grip and gun rules, etc.

Ответить

The pistol he is training on is massive. It is a 9mm with a double-stacked magazine, possibly a Staccato STI 2011XC.

I took my daughters shooting and both know how, but only one carried her training into adult life. One was nearly strangled on her front porch by some methed-out vato from across the street. Her mother had no firearm and was not strong enough to get her free, and but for neighbors responding to the screams at 1:30 AM and pulling him off of her she would have died. I don't worry about the other daughter so much. She is a former US Army paratrooper and always carries at least a blade. Her home is defended by Sturm Ruger and a vigilant dog. She makes peanut butter cookies from scratch too.

When it comes to recoil & shooting heavy guns.... imagine a huge guy, a fist firm against your shoulder... and he punches forward. It'll push you back but, that's about it. Now imagine him a few inches away from your shoulder... that's a nasty bruise

I grew up with fire arms. All of my neighbors have them, we live in a rural area. Hunting is a part of life here. I live in an open carry state, seeing people with guns is normal here. And no, it's not like Chicago or L.A., it's a very quiet peaceful area. The last shooting here was when gang bangers from the closest city tried a home invasion several years ago. The gang bangers did not survive their attempt.

Notice when he's teaching him the handgun safety at no point does the pistol EVER point at him when the instructor is handling it. Even though he knows it's not loaded. After a while this becomes second nature.

Great video, Andre! Hope you enjoy your time shooting when you get here! I have a good amount of experience with guns, but I'm no expert. I grew up shooting BB guns (also known as airguns) and .22LR rifles, as well as playing airsoft and paintball. As I got older, I moved on to bigger guns and handguns. I own a BB gun, a few handguns, a 12-gauge pump-action shotgun, a 30-06 single-shot hunting rifle (which can be considered a "sniper" rifle), and a couple of .22LR rifles. One thing that surprises many people who have never shot guns before is that rifles are much easier to shoot than handguns. That is why children here learn to shoot with air rifles and low-caliber rifles before they handle handguns or any more powerful firearms.

Before anyone touches a gun, they must demonstrate that they understand and can follow the gun safety rules. Gun safety is the most critical aspect, and it is simple. You only need to know four rules to be safe with any gun.

The four universal rules of gun safety are:
1. Treat all guns as if they are always loaded.
2. Never let the muzzle point at anything you are unwilling to destroy.
3. Keep your finger off the trigger until your sights are on the target and you decide to shoot.
4. Be sure of your target and what is behind it.

As an extra note for new shooters, start with the smallest caliber. If you want to shoot a more powerful gun, load only one round into the magazine or cylinder at a time until you feel comfortable shooting it. This method will help prevent accidental multiple firings due to recoil. If you lose your grip from the force and accidentally pull the trigger again while trying to re-grab the gun, it can cause you to fire the gun in an unsafe direction. Remember Rule #2: Never let the muzzle point at anything you are unwilling to destroy.

Gun rule one and most important 1. The gun is always loaded period. which leads to rule 2. Rule 2. NEVER point a gun at anything you're not willing to destroy. Rule 3. Always keep your finger off the trigger until you are ready to fire. The final rule 4. Be sure of what is behind your target and beyond.
Now as for the Gerand which is based of the lords round 30-06. You will notice with the rifles he did two things wrong which almost every new shooter does. First he didn't hold it tight into the meat of your shoulder. This causes a number of issues the first being as he mentions kicks like a mule. I can assure you he is going to be sore in the morning if not a few hours later. Second if you don't hold the weapon tight the firearm may not function correctly causing what is called a "short stroke" which means the round in the chamber went off but the action didn't have enough momentum to completely cycle which I believe happened in the video with the garand. Lastly if you don't hold it tight to your shoulder your aim will never go where you want it to go. Cheers from the US and yes you should experience a range day.

Good luck trying to find a machine gun to shoot. They're super heavily regulated, so finding one and then affording the ammo to fire one for more than a moment is really hard and really expensive.

FYI, Andre, What was on the groung at the range weren;t bullet,s they were shell casngs. A bullet is what comes out of the barrel and goes into (hopefully) your target, and 99.99% percent of them will end up being caught in the black area at the very end of the range. What's on the ground is the shell casing that the bullet sits in along with the powder and primer. They are ejected by semi-automatic firearms when thrund goes off.

Ammunition ir cratidges, not bullets, come in different numbers. Straight from the box pistol ammo usually comes in boxes of 50 while rifle ammo is usually 2o rounds to a box. With the M1, it uses what's called and be bloc clip which holds 8 rounds.

As far as shooting machineguns, there are several states where you can do that, Texas should be one of them and Nevada, but they're usually going to be outdoor ranges, not indoors. As far as "sniper rifles" go, any rifle can be a sniper's rifle, even a lowly .22LR rifle. But shooting one of those wouldn't any different than firing a normal rifle except that it has a scope. A sniper's rifle can be chambered in any number of different calibers and the experience wouldn't be much different than firing any other rifle chambered in that same caliber. They can also be smei-auto, or bolt action, and a famous Marine Corps sniper during the Vietnam War by the name of Carlos Hathcock even used a .50 machine as a super rile.

The rifle at the end is a German made H&K G36 and it was the standard issue service rifle of the Gemran military and is not a machine gun, it's an assault rifle. It uses a 30 round magazine and is capable of what's called select fire, meaning that it can be fired in semi-automatic (one round per trigger pull) as well as full automatic (keeps on firing as long as you hold down the trigger.}

Adrian, notice how the buttstock of the M1 is sitting low on his shoulder almost in his armpit. Yeah, dont do that, or you will get bruses. Make sure that the buttstock is firmly planted into the meat of your shoulder (the thickest part) between the rotator cup of your shoulder and your collar bone. Also, his cheek of his face should be resting on the top of the buttstock it helps stabilize and aim down sights better. Please listen to this advice because if that buttstock isn't firm against your shoulder, it will leave room for the buttstock to slap your shoulder with the recoil, and you don't want that to happen with bigger guns

I have seen videos of a girl shooting a .50 cal at an indoor range. Depends on if the range has one.
