lol, the ninth CIRCLE court? xD
ОтветитьIt's hardly unauthorized if it's your own system that you have paid for...making that information available for others to do to their own system is also not illegal. It's only illegal if you do it for a profit
ОтветитьHow did old games boot up then on the new revision?
ОтветитьTom Kalinske kind of enabled EA to do what they did. Sega needed 3rd party support badly back then! And EA was all they had to work with at the time before others would jump on board!
ОтветитьWhat a tripp
ОтветитьIt’s so weird listening to a documentary about the competency of EA and agreeing with it.
Ответитьah, I see that EA has been literally a dick for both corporates and consumers.
ОтветитьThose yellow tabs for ea games huh?
ОтветитьYou know, I complain a lot about my country's laws in many different areas. I often think I might be in the worst timeline. However, US court decisions have been some of the reasons why my favorite homebrew hobbies aren't seen as outright criminal offences, as much as the big companies would love to see it that way. I'd hate to see a world where homebrew isn't possible and people didn't actually own the hardware they have. It's something we can't take for granted.
ОтветитьThis video is too simplified.
Needs more in depth on the subject.
I am comment 1000!!! SO AWESOME!!! Incredible video. Insanely awesome information! I wonder where do you get them. Cheers
ОтветитьAbsolutely awesome. I'm comment 999btw. 0625 11052024
ОтветитьThe balls on that EA CEO, just walking in like we're releasing these games whether you like it or not
ОтветитьI randomly and completely coincidentally watched this video after the recent Nintendo v Yuzu case
ОтветитьIs reverse engineering actually illegal? Stealing property is, but making your own slightly different thing has long been standard practice among competitors.
Ответить"importance" of a good security system
Yeah, anti consumer practices are very important 🙄
I'm liking all you're videos on the consoles of yesteryear,i'll be checking back for more videos.Did you ever do a video on the Amiga CD32 console?.That would be an interesting one to watch.
ОтветитьWhen I was 11 I researched the shit out of it and bought a plug mod and the disc door spring that kept the door button pressed down and burned so my games. Every console after that was modded lol.
ОтветитьMy MegaDrive (Model 1) doesn’t have the TMSS but my Genesis (Model 1) does
ОтветитьFun story: whilst I was in college doing electronic engineering the mod chip scene took off when I was in my second year, there were maybe 6 of us per class, so we'd moved next door to the lab and the new first years came in, there was maybe 8 of them as well - I was 17 years old at the time, the first years were 16.
After a while the first years turned the lab into a ps1 modding shop, the lecturers saw it as an interest and liked that they were learning the skills... Until it was revealed they were earning a load of money doing it and the college put a stop to it.
But for a brief moment in time, a college electronic engineering lab became a ps1 mod shop.
DAAAAAMN i want this Tshirt
ОтветитьThe SEGA Mega Drive or Genesis only physical region locking. The cartridges where different shapes for different regions but they worked perfectly fine if you modified your console or cartridge
ОтветитьSEGA learnt the hard way.
ОтветитьOne question, how would older legit cartridges run if they didn't have the code in it?
ОтветитьHmmm... not how you spell Motorola!
ОтветитьThe tmss court should been in Sega favor they had trademark on code
ОтветитьSega : reverse engineer it
Ea : ok
Sega : damn can't sue u now
"Electronic Arts were skilled developers" behold - the one positive thing that has ever or will ever be said about EA
ОтветитьBack then reverse engineering was allowed and now some modders are getting sued and taken to court just for doing some things that the developers should've done themselves.
Ответитьface palm talk about EA how they had passionate making games I remember back in days playing it then fast forward today don't even get started with the predatory loot boxes gambling element implemented in their games.
ОтветитьIt's always EA
ОтветитьWow Accolade… childhood nostalgia just rushed back. Years of ms dos games
ОтветитьOddly cartridges was one of the rezones why the Nintendo vs Blockbuster lawsuit gone no where. Making video game renting 100% legal.
ОтветитьI'm going to go against the EA hate and say that Desert Strike (the helicopter game) was my sh...stuff back then. I considered asking mom for a 32x or Saturn back then just for the upcoming remake/re-release of Jungle Strike. Poor alternate timeline me, that received the Sega hardware from mom for Xmas, instead of saving up for an N64 myself.
ОтветитьLol I remember that bs "Sega Seal" in 2nd grade 1989ish, I had cut it out of a Gaming Magazine and made it sound like a big deal. My friend had something I wanted to trade for, don't remember what, and out of nowhere, he said he would give it to me if I gave him that "Seal" lol. Kids right??
ОтветитьAmazing info!
ОтветитьEA used to be a pretty decent company. Today they are a joke.
ОтветитьNice
ОтветитьWhat does NSA stand for?
Ответить"9th Circuit Court..."
FYI for non-Americans, it's colloquially known as the 'Ninth Circus' as their opinions frequently make no sense to half the country.
The PS1 isn’t the base for console modding, Pong was. People really wanted to make them paddles smaller
Ответить"THE MADMAN BUILT HIS REPUATION BY SHOWING NO MERCY FOR THOSE WHO STOOD IN HIS WAY."
ОтветитьThis video was absolutely awesome! Definitely more like this 🔥❤️🙏🏼
ОтветитьGreat video thanks 😊
ОтветитьGreat video article man! Thanks for sharing this story!
ОтветитьSo many hours spent on that desert Strike game
ОтветитьLets be real, we all tried to pull that yellow tab out didn’t we
ОтветитьDesert Strike, and Jungle Strike. Excellent games!
