Great video, I bought the RS660 and now have a bit of buyers remorse to trade it in for this bike.

It would be an amazing bike if the price wasn't nearly the same as a i4 600 sportsbike. It would be even better if it actually weighed in less aswell. But it doesn't. And it lacks what I consider to be the most fun part of motorcycles. A high torque power. If you get a 600 you'll be better served in my opinion.

The ZX4RR costs nearly 11.000€ where I live. I'd put it in the 6000-7000€ bracket. That way it would be more competitive against the 600's.

such a shame it makes about 50 whp and getting it to that 75ish whp voids warranty and according to most tests only adds midrange power and doesnt increase top speed by more than 3 mph

No real reason for it too maybe if it had an all aluminum frame but for the money better to just buy a zx6 thing should be 7k otd even with the aluminum frame

When Kawasaki puts, RR ,on a bike, they ain’t messing around. This is the first video I have seen on this bike, that puts its price into proper perspective. I was initially surprised they didn’t go with an aluminum frame, but when I started doing the math myself, I get it entirely. They gave the bike the goods it needs to walk the walk in this displacement category, without getting ridiculous. They already have a couple of those “ridiculous” bikes in their lineup, for those who can muster the $$
Great review.
As an ex road racer, who raced Kawasakis exclusively, 500s to 1000s, I totally get what they have done.

In short people just want the most advanced bike in any category for bargain bin prices. And they’ll buy the cheaper option and then try to convince everyone it’s the same as the more experience bike because look, I twist the throttle and it goes forward just like the more expensive bikes.

I’ve seen people try to make the comparison between a Honda Rebel 1100 and a M109r or Sportster S. They’re the same right, a cruiser is a cruiser right?

Easy cause to some experienced riders in the know it is worth it. Not all bikes with about same hp and weight are equal. Spec sheet is one thing, ride it then ninja 400 or r7. Tell me what it is worth. Just as some say dodge with 800hp better than.porsche with 600hp. If hp is all that matter maybe, but the difference is huge

I'm amazed how the ZX4R manages to be heavier than the 650-700cc bikes. Would like to hear it scream though. Hope the likes of ZX2R returns to market with their 20k RPM's.

Edit: Kawasaki (and Yamaha) do not have the greatest names of reliability. Not sure how that's relevant though. Racing anything will always involve the wrenches.

Yeah I think Kawi made the 636 just a bit to cheap so it looks like the 400rr is pricey. Either way, I can't wait to sit on one to feel it out. I love the 636 feel and thought the 400 would be good enough for me but the width is so uncomfortable. Hope the 400rr is similar in feel to the 636 cuz I would love the smaller bike

I live in Indonesia, the true reason why ZX 4RR is almost 10K dollar in your country is because the bike ZX 25RR price is 6K dollar in my contry, if Kawasaki maybe sell ZX4RR it for 7K-8K it will destroy the market and people will chose ZX 4RR instead of ZX 25RR. So overal its about market.

That's a very fair comparison. Although, as a manufacturer, they don't need to spend on the original parts for comparison. So I would have liked to see this end up the low $8K price range.
While that might seem low in your comparison, at that, I think this would absolutely become the de-facto bike - trouncing the competition in sales.

At it's current price range, I am a little worried it will get just low enough sales for there to be a risk of them to pulling after a few years.

PS this is absolutely the bike I am looking for - for daily riding!
If it were priced as I had hoped, I could easily sell 1 bike and add a bit to get it. At it's current price, it's a bit more than I can justify splurging on (will be saving up that splurge budget instead).

I wouldn't be at all surprised to see these used 2 years from now still hanging at above $7K, because people won't want to get rid of them.

Why would anyone pay this kind of money when a brand new Z900 is a few hundred bucks cheaper, more powerful, and faster ( 0-60, 1/4 mile, and top speed). Wait until next year when the novelty of this noisy cricket wears off and it'll probably be where it really belongs, in the $6900 to $7200 range.

The concept of a beginner bike has always seemed stupid to me. It makes the assumption that everyone has the same goal of becoming a track racer. Lots of people buy larger bikes because they don’t want to feel like a beginner but they never take it on the track and rarely get the thing out of second gear, such a waste. I like your comment that smaller bikes are more fun to ride because they are, and not only are they more fun but you’re also utilizing the bike to the fullest which most people will never do with their 900cc plus bikes. Pushing the bike to its limits is an amazing feeling, don’t let people put your bike into a beginner category because of their own fragile egos. Just ride.

The zx4rr is a richboys personal track toy. Thats it. Its too fast to race in twins cup, but too slow to race with the 600s. You cant professionally race it. Also it only weighs 10 pounds lighter than a zx6r. Most people are just going to get a zx6r for cheaper, then upgrade it.

Odd note for the price point but if you look between the 400 and the 650 your already looking at over 16k for both. With the zx4 your at 10k. Its a nice mid point thats more powerful than both for the longevity of ownership. Also thats based off stock bikes not including rider mods which puts you well over 20k vs around 14-16k on the zx
