Riddick 4: Furya - Story, Release Date, New Characters, Why It Took So Long And Other Questions!

For some weird reason, I like this series.  Maybe because it's sci-fi, maybe it's because Riddick is an underdog who always seems to escape his captors while also making them look foolish, or maybe it's because I can relate.

In the part of the third installment, when Riddick said, "I got too civilized," referring to how soft he got, I can completely relate to that sentiment.  Because when I was struggling, when I was homeless, and when I fought for things, both legally and illegally—although I was never a psychopath about it—I had more strength.  I was in better physical shape.  My mind was sharper, as I didn't watch television and tried to avoid the psychic vampires who always came at me.  Even though sometimes I failed, I learned something new every time I failed.

And if I wanted to consume what we call "news," I would either go online at the library or merely read a newspaper, but even both of those mediums are much different than television, as I could control the amount of bullsh!t I was allowing myself to be fed; if I didn't wish to read any longer, I would just stop reading.  Whereas with television, sure, I could do the same thing by merely changing the channel, but I didn't because it's television, and that medium has a strong hypnotic tractor beam to it that's hard to let go, while the other two avenues I took, it wasn't as hard to just "turn the page."

So in that one simple quote Riddick or the writer gave us, he told me that becoming "civilized" doesn't much help where personal gain is concerned, even if I had more material possessions at that time or just felt like I was better off.  That feeling was just "baggage" that eventually turned into luggage.  And since I don't like storage facilities because they can harbor bad ideas where metaphorical bodies can accumulate, becoming so-called civilized seemed both counterproductive and counterintuitive.  All it can do is get you fat, lazy, and ripe for the slaughter.

Sure, my skills have diminished.  I'm now a shadow of my former self.  As my teeth grow longer and more worn down, it feels ugly; it feels useless; it feels angry.  But the key is to not allow that anger to possess me, but to instead inspire me, to push me forward.

And that's also okay; just as long as I'm still drawing breath, that means I can change, and hopefully, that change eventually becomes "flawless."

So please, bring on #4... I can't wait to see what Dick B. Riddick comes up with next.  But for fu(k's sake, could you give the man a pet that doesn't die?  That really hurts my heart.  Riddick needs a steady... something so that he can move on and receive inner peace.  And that thing being death just doesn't seem fair, even if he's a Christ-like figure.

Hopefully, this latest movie will get done Faster than not.

Most entry in the riddick universe are amazing (Chonicles, Dark Fury and Dark Athena being the top 3) and it would be a shame to end it on the mid-tiers remake of pitch black that was Riddick. Can't wait !

I wish the "Fast and Furious" franchise would end, so Diesel can bring other characters to life.

I remember watching Pitch Black when it first came out and I was disappointed as it was not scary as advertised. Over time it grew on me, as Science Fiction, and that is where the universe truly shines. Would love a scary movie but I have read that comes from atmospheric staging and these movies do not film that way. They only come close when Riddick works his magic doing things behind other characters backs, clipping a lock of hair in Pitch Black and stealing a hand mirror from Starbuck in the bathroom in Riddick. I suppose he is their monster but not ours.

So far all 3 films are good

Something to think about, he was last seen traveling through the "Threshold" to the Underverse, and it has been mentioned that everyone dead in the original universe will be alive again within Underverse.
So, imagine if he encounters Jack/Kyra, Little Johnnes, and of course The Lord Marshall he killed in Chronicles, in the Underverse.

About time! Riddick is my favorite sci-fi character. I've been waiting years for a conclusion about Furyans and their culture. I just hope it's dark.

I was born in 1961 first it was Star Trek then it was Star Wars then the alien franchise then it was Riddick I have to say Reddick is my favorite of them all I can't wait for the next installment

Vin is going to be 60 by the time this film comes out! I wish they had managed to get a couple more Riddick films out between 2004 Chronicles and 2013 Riddick but I understand why as the films weren't as successful as the Fast & Furious films so naturally his energy had to go more toward those.

Riddick to me was such a cool universe, cool locations, cool world building...so it was and is still weird to me to not use this universe. It isnt too complicated and the setting in Riddick already was sufficiently visualized. That could be such a cool and worthwhile popcorn cinema.

How he's not sick of fast and furious is beyond me

Dad showed me the first two when I was in middle school. We saw the 3rd one in theaters when I was in high school. And now, as an adult, I look forward to sharing another amazing moment with my dad with the new movie. We love Riddick and rewatch the movies all the time. It never gets old!! Hoping to finally get a story on his origin.

Look no matter what they're all decent movies pitch black was a sleeper hit that was completely unexpected the best of the movies but all of them have been solid action movies with so many more stories to be told what a unique and Ordinary World with just some awesome lore

Riddick series is worth more than 100 fast and furious movies
