ОтветитьJanet, at first I thought you were Hilary Clinton! But I love your show.
ОтветитьThat wasn’t a kabocha....
Kabocha are much smaller and dark green (except for the rare red variety)
Very informative. Now I feel more confident in cooking the various types of squash. Thank you! I just cooked and ate delicata squash. My first time preparing it myself, with butter salt and pepper. Delicious. I ate the skin, too.
ОтветитьI really enjoyed watching the video. :D
ОтветитьYou forgot the soup. So many kinds of soup.
ОтветитьGreat video - lovely to see the interiors of each squash. That huge banana squash is just a hefalump of a thing - bit too big to grow at home. You'd struggle to eat it all before it started to go bad.
ОтветитьLet's talk about how healthy it is then add butter, sugar, lmbo
ОтветитьYou got that right Tari - native American Indians had it all going on long before the pilgrims - they can show how it's all done!
ОтветитьI use butternut or sweet meat for my pumpkin pies and sweet potato suflee
ОтветитьI think you need a saw for those really big squash!
ОтветитьI have a NuWave Oven. I cut the smaller squash in half, coat the insides with melted butter, and cook for 35 minutes. Never fails!
ОтветитьThis Spring and Summer (2019), I allowed my garden to go fallow in order to give Mother Nature a rest and to give back to Her (i.e., nourish the soil). Lo and behold, what comes back from previous years? Summer squash and pumpkins! I didn't do a darn thing this year in my garden and still reaped a harvest. It just goes to show you when you are good to the Earth, She will be good back to you. Thank you for this informative video on all the characteristics of the various squashes.
Ответитьfirst time on web site found infromation useful and easy to understand
ОтветитьSquash wasn't just miraculously here...Thank the Indigenous people for showing colonizers the various squash to eat and survive.
ОтветитьThank you for the tutorial. I grow my own squash and stuck to acorn and butternut varieties. You've opened my eyes to trying spaghetti and delicate. Will try those this year.
Ответитьi think you are going to need a chain saw for some of those bigger squashes.
ОтветитьGREAT video! I’ve been looking EVERYWHERE for giant banana squash like that! Where can I get seeds? All I can find in my area is the “Candy roaster.” Please let me know!
ОтветитьForgot about the Hubbard. That’s what I was most interested in knowing how to cut up and cook?
ОтветитьThe instant pot works great with these :-) I have learned to put them in the instant pot with the shell still on them.
ОтветитьLast year a farmer showed how to SAFELY CUT that big blue grey Hubbard squash. He dropped it on concrete. Broke open and in useable sizes. Worked out great! I dropped mine on Butcher paper . Baked it at 350 for 30 to 45 min. depending on chunk sizes.
And, Delicata has an edible skin if you cut in rings and line up in pan. Butter when soft and then "play" with your spices to change flavors. Aloha Mahalo!🌺
I've never had winter squash. I see them in the grocery store, but never buy them because I wouldn't know what to do with them. So, I am very grateful for this video.
I hope you ladies will do some cooking with squash videos too.
What did you do with all that food?
ОтветитьI need some of those seeeds
ОтветитьLove the presentation and recipes, thank you!
ОтветитьI really love Hubbard squash. I used to drop it on the garage floor. Worked great. Lol. Have never seen them in Florida where i live now.
ОтветитьJust started eating squash this year , butternut is our favorite ! Never knew there were so many different kinds , thank you for posting this very informative and will be checking into others !
ОтветитьSerrated bread knives help you slice and maintain control while cutting it
ОтветитьWonderful presentation with a pinch of humor. Butternut and banana squash is two of our favorites. Merry Christmas!
ОтветитьGreat info, but why "the pilgrims"? I recall there were other people living here too. Seems ... weird to focus on pilgrims when this is not a "Thanksgiving" video.
ОтветитьUse an axe!
ОтветитьThank you
ОтветитьThere was no Mexico in 5500 B.C.
ОтветитьThank you. I just started buying winter squash.
Ответитьpilgrims?! haha. you mean people who killed the native people and stole their vegetables. The USA is born out of the death.
ОтветитьReally bad video
ОтветитьHow to Cook a butternut squash
ОтветитьIf you are going to mash the squash, my suggestion is that you air pressure cook it. Takes much less time than cooking in the oven and it comes out perfect.
ОтветитьLooking for Hopi pale gray squash recipes
Ответитьthere has a winter squash you did not introduce. what is the name of it?
ОтветитьLol heard some people cut them big Hubbards with an axe. Y'all had me laughing, this was a great video thank you.
ОтветитьI like to make spaghetti squash "pizza" boats
Its pretty self explanatory, I suppose
Last year I tried and ate so many pumpkins. Some were sweeter and creamier than others .The green sorta flat ones have a very creamy and yellow flesh .I even tried one of the small white ones and it's flesh had the same texture as coconut. I added some coconut oil and some coconut flavoring and it was so close to coconut that it would fool someone who didn't know better ..
I got my first pumpkin today .
Green and pink ,should be really good .
Yes, add any kind of tomato sauce and you can also stirfry up some shrimp and add that as well. It's very delicious.
ОтветитьHolidays bout try em😊
ОтветитьThanks. I have a pile of winter squash ripening on my kitchen table for the past month. Am at the point of just throwing them away, not knowing what else to do with them. I’ll check for orange flesh. Try some of your tips with those. Anything still green by now I’ll toss in the trash.
ОтветитьLots of great information, thanks
