ОтветитьTools for mental brakes:
1. Mindfulness; observe your thoughts as if they are clouds passing by.
2. Give your mind a name; it's a way of creating distance from the narrative of mind.
3. Repeat the negative word really fast for 30 seconds. The word will lose its meaning. It's opposite of deja vu - jamais vu.
4. Give the mental narrative a funny voice; the main idea is to create a sense of separation.
When he was talking about remembering 123, I realised I just lost the game. 😊
ОтветитьDid not care for the old-man-imitation. I think this was trite babbling and not entertaining except for an 8-year-old.
ОтветитьI am not my thoughts and I don't have to defend them.
ОтветитьDuring the talk I was already feeling better, even without yet trying it out. It's good to have hope.
Ответить“Our secrets are the same secrets”
Ответить“Give your mind a name.” Brilliant
Ответитьthank you!

ОтветитьThey've offered Royalties on ideas but it doesn't mean its cost effective for low income high interest individuals.
ОтветитьFrom a plumber to army man to astronaut to psychologist, this man has impressive skills.
Ответить😍😍👌👌

ОтветитьThis talk by Gordon Craven is brilliant
ОтветитьI really enjoyed this!
ОтветитьThank you VERY MUCH ! Works like a charm
ОтветитьHe sounds a LOT like Adam West
ОтветитьThank you for Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT). I tried various cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), but they did more harm than good in stressful situations. I ended up fusing my thoughts so often I trained myself to have general anxiety disorder and panic attacks. ACT and a few other things helped me reduce and eliminate panic.
You do fantastic science that saves lives and helps recover from mental suffering.
Genius! Amazing talk
ОтветитьThis is so helpful for me to watch.
ОтветитьHe sounds like Jim Gaffigan
ОтветитьHere's one I discovered--
Look at yourself in the mirror and make silly/mad/sad/goofy faces at yourself, until you just have to laugh.
He lost my interest right at the beginning when he said human beings are the envy of the rest of living creation. I don't believe that for a split second.
ОтветитьDo you think it is healthy and therapeutic to self-separate? I don't think so.. I think wholeness is healthy.
"Accept yourself" for example -- WFT?! It's like there is me, there is second me which I need to accept and there is someone there that would evaluate the process. Why would we do this schizophrenia? I don't think it's healthy... Yes, it helps to dissociate and reprocess some emotional peaks from that distance, but that also means choosing separation, not wholeness. And yes, separation os one of the psych defence mechanism, helping to adapt. But as many other defense mechanism (except sublimation) it ruins the wholeness and takes a person away from it.
Instead of this separation, I would suggest to go with a thought, be with it, live through it, sit next to it on that cloud, ride with it, but also noticing which direction you are going, staying present and noticing how other feelings of yours are rising. Accepting it all at once as living it through. There comes wholeness. One life and one You.
Thank you so much for this information. Amazing, helpful and life changing.
ОтветитьFunny and clever😍
Ответитьthis vid should be taught to everybody 💝
ОтветитьLife-changing 💝
ОтветитьBest talk! Thank you Dr. Steven Hayes.
ОтветитьMy mom just died and I am beginning to burn out doing so much. I was skipping meals until I completed stuff and and tired from driving my dad around and dropping things off so we can cancel things. I am 35 but have a life that feels like a 60-year old. I put off doing laundry for so long that I started buying new items. No one dropped off food yet, and it has been a week since mom died. Local elections are Tuesday. My family flying from California aren't coming until later. And, my uncle's anniversary of his suicide is the day before mom's funeral this Friday. So much won't get done until I do it, but I might have help later. But, I cannot push it all off because I have no idea when my brothers are flying from California. They won't come until the tickets are the cheapest. They can't afford hotels and plane tickets, so they will stay with us. I am having to make room.
The only way I am dealing is learning to slow down and listen to my own needs. It's hard to ask people for help, because I don't know what to ask. I am just doing my best. Listening to things like this helps.
Extremely useful video, thank you very much.
