Hello, I just installed my new Whirlpool WHES40 water softener and I would like to know if I need to water when I’m am adding the salt or just add salt. Upon installation, the manual said to add 3 gallons of water with 1 bag salt and make sure it is running good before adding more salt.
That stage is completed and now I need to add more salt, I just need to know whether I need to add more water with the salt or salt only.
I have the same softener that, during it's last charge cycle a few days ago, never stopped running! It's full of water and had been pulling water from my well for a good 14 hrs before I finally managed to force the broken motor to close the valve, stopping the water, and unplug it. So this video is exactly what I needed to stumble across to refurbish my system! Thanks.
Now I just need to figure out how to close my bypass valve without making the other side of it leak too much...
Fred - My issue is with the Brine tubing being brittle and breaking. I've done some patch work a handful of times, but it really ust needs to be replaced. Do you know if the Brine Tubing (from the venturi to the brine valve assembly) alone can be replaced? I have found the part on Sears Parts Direct so I'm guessing so, but I can't find an videos of the tubing being replaced. Also, I'm assuming that the ferrule nut cannot be reused. Do you know whether or not this is the case? Any tips you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
ОтветитьI watched your video, rebuilt my Venturi, it seemed to fix it for a couple months, glad the kit I purchased on Amazon had several of the gaskets it there. Hoping that today gives me some more months of soft water without my tank filling up.
ОтветитьSo, any grooves are bad grooves (in the seal). Thanks, wasn't sure if the seal was manu'd that way or what.
ОтветитьCan u verify correct position of the float valve? My rubber washer and ceramic weight at set at near top of the placstic rod. Does this matter?
ОтветитьFollowed your instructions, now the softner is blinking orange and saying err
ОтветитьJust ordered the gasket. Also, do you think the floating valve inside the tank may cause this issue?
ОтветитьMy issue is the opposite. In the past, I'd have to add about a bag of salt every 2 weeks or so. However, I last added salt about 2 months ago and notice it is at the same level. What could be causing this and how do I remedy the issue?
ОтветитьQuick and to the point. I have the same issue just need to check for the gaskets.
ОтветитьIf that doesn’t solve your water in the tank problems there’s also a plunger in the head valve unit that has a oring/spring that wears out over time causing the brine wash cycle not to function properly letting water back into the brine tank instead of washing the resin tank. Took me awhile to figure it out but once I replaced that my softener worked properly. Hope this helps someone.
ОтветитьHello @MrFredsDIY, I just got my gasket replaced and it filled up my tank with even more water what should I do?
ОтветитьThank you for the video.
ОтветитьSo you're saying it can drain itself? I don't have to take a vacuum to suck the water and salt out?
ОтветитьImagine the people that had the water softeners installed in the closet for the closet. I am currently dealing with my water softener, leaking out all over my garage, flooding it with particles of suit and sand everywhere.
ОтветитьJust ordered a gasket. I'm figuring my problem is the same. Thanks.
Ответитьstraight to the problem and the fix good video.
ОтветитьSo when I try to search for this with the number on the back I only get the full kit but the 3 digits on the front are different. Does that matter?
ОтветитьThank you
ОтветитьThis is a good video except I can't get that top off. It would be helpful to show that part to start with
ОтветитьI have the same symptoms but cleaning the valve did do anything and the water pressure is still around 30psi. unless you tap on the spring things on the pump. anyway. I have water that appears to be coming form the rubber membrane under the readout portion of the softener. what to do now?
ОтветитьI'm trying to find reasons why my Whirlpool water softener has collected water inside the tank. Your video will be the one fix I'll try first. Other videos just doesn't make sense. Glad I found you w/ your straight forward explanation that a child could understand. Thank you!!
ОтветитьThank you.
ОтветитьDon’t some water softeners have the water always in it until it draws it in? I think mine does.
ОтветитьThat's a sturdy shelf with the bottled water on it!
ОтветитьMy water softener is in bypass mode right now and has the same lever style bypass yours does, but it's leaking on the left side of the bypass. The other day I flipped it from service to bypass during a regeneration cycle and it sprayed a burst of water while I flipped to bypass and then it slowed to a drip and hasn't stopped dripping..
ОтветитьGreat instructional video
ОтветитьAlright!! A very useful video for my similar Whirlpool water softener, Fred! Thank you so much! Being the cautious DYI-er, while awaiting the replacement gasket to be delivered, I performed a "dry run", just to make sure I wasn't caught by surprise by anything when the actual replacement sequence were to take place. It really adds confidence to the actual process.
One suggestion: Since mine wasn't dried out or frayed, I didn't know what defined a "worn out" gasket until I saw a side-by-side photo online. Those imprinted "channels" made from the plastic venturi is another tell-tale sign of a worn-out gasket. The whole swap took me just 10 minutes.
Great video. Mine was a kink in the line! Thanks a million!
ОтветитьThis was a great video. Really good camera work (easy to see), video editing (No parts skipped, but tedious parts time-lapsed foreward), super clear narration (and explanation, which i love!). I don't know if this is my problem - but I'm going to try it. And for anyone who had this problem, your video is very helpful and well produced. thanks!
ОтветитьI try every thing on my water softener just found your video and order the new gasket hopefully it will work
ОтветитьGod bless you, sir! Very helpful and well-produced video! 🙏🏼
ОтветитьKI HAVE A SORT OF METALIC TASTE IN MY MOUTH AND WHEN I lick my. Lips they have a salty taste to them,,,If I don,t drink my soft water and drink bottled water ,the taste is not there, please can you let me know if you think lt,s the water softner??? Thank you
ОтветитьHello My Tapeworks water softener in the UK has around 4 or 5 inches of water in but never gets higher then that, it works fine and my water is nice and soft. Do you think I need to change my Venturi valve? My softener is 10 years old.
ОтветитьGreat video and highly appreciate you providing the amazon link to buy the gaskets as well. Very helpful.
ОтветитьI replaced my venturi. The water level was just below 7 before I replaced it. I ran a recharge and now it is just below 4. Should I be looking in other areas to clean this tank out?
ОтветитьHow can you tell the gasket worn out?
ОтветитьSolid video. Thank you.
ОтветитьI need help please. I have a whirlpool.... w softener . The low salt or recharge light is continually blinking ... Its a little low on salt but it has been lower many times b4 .
My elec was out last week ...that may have something to do with it . Anyways it want respond when I push any button . I can't even set my time . Can you please help?
Thanks for the info. I’m doing this today.
ОтветитьGreat video, thank you so much!
ОтветитьMy water softener is only 2 months old. I have the same problem with water settling in the salt tank. How often do these gaskets need replacing?
ОтветитьThis is so fantastic. There's a diagram in the unit, but there's nothing better than watching someone do it. Thank you!!
ОтветитьI have the same symptoms as you, a full brine tank, but I think I may have a different problem.
Before you replaced the gasket, did you first TEST to see if the water emptied in the brine tank when you forced recharge cycle?? If the water emptied, it's my guess that your gasket was fine. (If it is still able to empty the water on recharge, then the problem isn't the gasket) If it's like my case, the water is accumulating over days. The problem comes from a "slow/leak filling" from somewhere, NOT from water being left behind because of faulty gasket and inability to syphon water out of brine tank.
Will the brine tank drain itself after it's fixed or do I need siphon it out?
