the female interviewer from 60 minutes was the absolute worst, most judgmental people I have seen interview someone. I felt so bad for aileen having to try and defend herself.

It's a shame how the interviewer handled the moment she spoke of the killings as a "hitchhiking hooker, who would shoot people if she ran into physical trouble", with his response. "But 7 killings in one year!?" Like it's so hard to beleive she could run into that much physical trouble, living a life on the road as she did. Not saying killing people is right, but is it really that surprising that she mightve actually been in 7 different incidences where she had to kill in claims of self defense. I think that aspect of the case needed to be looked at more seriously, they tried to throw the frequency into the jury and publics faces, not the reasons.

Here's the thing, giving empathy for her upbringing is fine. But that doesnt justify her crimes. Sure, it is sad to know that she grew up being abused all the time, but again, her victims were also someone's dad, brother, friend, there's no excuse for that.

What I find interesting is that male serial killers like Gacey or Dahmer etc, they were clearly disturbed. You see it in their reasoning and in their eyes. They had no other motives than 'i liked it', but this woman... She's just broken. This is very obviously a victim of abuse. Someone who has been abused so much that she doesn't even care anymore.

I actually feel terrible for this woman. She never had a chance in life. From her childhood full of nothing but abuse to being raped by her grandfather and other men before she turned eleven. She was kicked out at 15 and had to live in the woods at such a young age. Got pregnant by a 60+ year old man at 14 and gave the baby up for adoption.

As I write this comment, tears welt up. 99.98% of serial killers are complete filth who deserve death and to rot in hell. But Aileen Wuornos did not. This poor woman was so mentally ill and unwell. Was used and abused all her life. Discarded. Thrown away like garbage. Never felt like she deserved anything or mattered.

Is killing justified? Not always. But in her case it was. I definitely believe those men tried to rape her. Once again, the world showed Aileen Wuornos that it was a cruel and evil place. Being used to getting raped and abused all her life, and here it was gonna happen again. She snapped and in self defense killed those men.

Aileen Wuornos was not a serial killer. She was a victim of a cruel grey world. The poor soul never had a chance at a happy good life. I hope she is at peace now. Her case is so fucked up. I feel terrible for this woman.

Its good to have compassion on people. She had a horrible life and that does influence how a person develops mentally to become psychopathic or sociopathic. I do feel bad for her. However, all of these serial killers have narcissistic traits. She may have BPD, which can present in similar ways as narcissism. A lot of the patterns do. She has a lot of grandiosity and excuses to justify her murders. She cleaned the streets, did it for the good. She may or may not be a victim. If she is, I can understand why she killed them. In another interviews, I cant tell if she recants and says it wasnt self defense because she didnt want to look like she was powerless and she knew she was going to be executed anyway or if she really was victimized. I think she told the truth and recanted because she didnt want to go out looking like she was in a situation where she was helpless. She knew the legacy she was leaving behind based on this interview. She knew there would be books and movies written about her. And image is everything to the narcissistic part of her. Psychopaths with narcissistic traits typically need to be in control at all times and more powerful. She also has A lot of it is victim mentality which is narcissistic in nature. She blamed the cops for her continued killings and took no accountability. She compares herself to jesus christ, pretty arrogant. I guess I just have a different aloof feeling towards sociopaths and psychopaths because I was raised by a sociopath. When you live with one, the abuse they heap on you, you wouldnt be so warm and cozy feeling towards them. But I can have cognitive empathy for what happens to them.
