Does anyone know any initiative in Switzerland to establish a network of fixed Meshtastic routers in key places? Wouldn't ETH buildings in Hönggerberg be a good place to start with? Üetliberg? Working in Zurich I currently see exactly one node so far that I am not even shure it is active. The region of Brugg (Aargau) already has quite a number of devices (15+) up and running.

Amazing how fraudulent the "government" "officials" can be and in malicious ways that are flat out based on false pretense claims. Probably to rob more for their budgets as I doubt they're that highly qualified people making the claims. Maybe they were slipped something in their drunk drug induced state. Anyways, what do you think all the wireless infrastructure is and related servers and storage to process all the SIGINT? Intelligence does define information as information is required for intelligence and the actual data valid. So more wireless signals that are easy to intercept, the better right? So stupid IMO. Weirdo confused trans kids or something? What is of concern are the remote sensing stations with concealed wireless assault weapons that beam form sound, body and mind control effects without consent and with operations and operators that are imminent threats that can be legally and lawfully lethal force prosecuted.

Actually government should be supporting this since when (not if) something goes down as centralized systems tend to do, then these might be the ONLY way to effectively communicate until the infrastructure is repaired. But instead their fear of peaceful civilians will keep them trying to keep us under their thumbs.

Aaron, I am very interested in your idea of using the Magewell Director Mini as a remote contribution tool. Would you please share your idea of how to route return audio for the return SRT stream?

very cool... i'd love to see you discuss more meshtastic when you start diving into ProxMox and VM / Container stuff (for example for hosting your own MQTT server, node-red installation, etc.)

The irony of banning things because they may be used for criminal activity is that in the end, the only people using it are the criminals, law abiding people lose out. It just doesn't work.
It's somewhat analogous to banning guns in the US. The legal gun owners would have to hand their guns over, the criminals keep theirs because, well, they're criminals! :-) (I have no strong views on gun control in the US, I don't live there so it's not my business)
It's astonishing how naive people, including politicians, can be with regards to technology. A UK government minister wanted to ban internet encryption altogether! A word in their ear from someone who knew the ramifications quickly poured water on that...
LoRa exists now, it can't be un-invented. Even if the authorities managed to round up and destroy every last LoRa device, criminals will always find a way to communicate privately. There's some very clever, resourceful criminals out there, sadly.

There is a global move to categorise any free thinking or independent person as a "terrorist".
Preppers, homesteaders, gun owners, and government critics are being labelled as "insurgents" etc, and Im not talking about in third world countries, Im talking about in the West.
The USA is even trying to implement a registry of everyone that grows their own food, and preppers are being lumped in with domestic terrorists in FBI documents like they are equivalent.
This is political and this is about compliance.

Why does it work, how does it work, how secure it is, how detectable and interferable it is? None. Just connect, go blind and smile. Magic.

Lol, don't kid yourself. The US is trying to figure out how to access and monitor this network. For the 99.999% of people here, it isn't a problem. But they will find a way in or bully and threaten someone from the project for access. For 99.9999% of the people here, it really won't be a problem. Just don't stake your freedom on it. Stuff like this terrifies them.

Anything that involves freedom is inherently dangerous and regulators who seek to control everything in society will always have an issue with it, whatever the justifications, they find these as they go, the underlying goal is absolute control at any cost.

Of course the lunatic universities will hate it. It gives dissident voices an ability to communicate. In an era where social media giants ban more users than they organically get each day we're all looking for alternatives where we can continue to network and speak with our friends without some <redacted> in Silicon Valley punishing us for it. The fact we have to invent new language to work around live censorship even on here shows how much we need a new alternative.

GREETINS.

This is a good way to aid in freedom fighting without actually doing any of the fighting. The more normal people use these the harder it'll be to outlaw them, plus it'll make it harder to intercept comms if there's more background traffic.
