This song and the game in general really encapsulate the perseverance of mankind, that against the cold, the darkness and the hopelessness, we endure against all odds. Amazing song with incredibly talented wordplay.

As someone that found this song before the game it's based on...
By itself, this song is outstanding. As always the wordplay and lyric structure are impeccable, but the story of it as well (even on it's own without the context of the game) is deeply compelling. But then again, I have a bias toward harrowing tales of survival like this.

My only problem is the fact that he sings about mercury and the burgundy strip, except mercury thermometers looked silver.

To me, the line "They told us hell was warm but our Empire fell for shelter from the storm" hit the most. It is as if the earth became worse than hell itself

Holy god damn, I've been looking at Frostpunk again because of Frostpunk 2, it looks amazing and I'm so excited, and I came across this. This is so perfect it made me cry, all the hours I spend leading our little city and protecting the flame in the storm came rushing back.

Funny thing is in the '70s climate change was saying earth would be a snowball by 1999. You can see documentaries with all the science about how the earth would freeze over.
