BMPCC4k vs ZCAM E2 Epic Battle!

Dude, so much work! Love the new format, I really wanted to buy a ZCam E2, since it looks like a mini RED. The cinema industry is very competitive right now!

hey bro tell nowadays z cam it's good for buying? I prefer e2m4 or e2 s6 instead bm4k/bm6k it's just my opinion

My main concern is global shutter sensors, however. The Zcam is indeed designed as an inexpensive alternative to RED camera systems meanwhile black magic was specifically designed for smaller broadcast system assembly. So I agree the Zcam is a better choice unless you are using it in a studio environment

I like Z-cam form factor very much , but first of all both cameras are positioned as cinema cams , and it means mainly shooting RAW. And Blackmagic is ready for it without any external Ssd drives , extra Monitors and expensive atomos recorders. BM is more professional cinema camera because it brings you directly really most important workflow for any cinematograph- and it’s : RAW workflow first of all.. Slow motion is nice have but not so much important. Anyway BM is ready to shoot cinematic even without rigging and other stuff. And price around 1300$ makes it very attractive. And Z-Cam I think cost around 1800$ plus all gear and Atomos Raw recorder makes is almost used RED Camera price range .. Ok that’s how I see this scenario bro, anyway thanks for your work, was interesting. I think will be nice to compare “green screen” workflows with same codec’s. Good Luck…

when BM release a camera in the box style it will change the game, their cameras now are excellent, I shoot on the 4k and Ursa G2 but the pocket is such an awkward thing to use on gimbals/rigs/carmounts etc etc

both cameras are really good for the cheap price compared to Red and Arri. the updates of the E2 M4 at $1,400 with a Ninja V($2,000). It also comes down to if work in Final Cut or Resolve? Then there's the highlight recovery of the BM! you really can't go wrong with either. I have the Pocket 4k but I'm going to sell my Panasonic G9 and get a E2 M4 because i have some Sirui anamorphic lenses that I really like.

Bad comparison of 10 bit vs 12 bit codecs. Should have at least recording in pro res raw to compare to braw. Of course 10 bit doesn't have as much latitude

Strange...the same sensor size but different DOF and angle in low light test? thats why Bmpcc4k feels more cinematic.

The speed of the sensor readout impacts rolling shutter artifacts.
It does not have very much to do with micro jitters.
If you follow the 180 shutter rule then the readout of both cameras is more than fast enough.
A bigger impact is the ergonomics,
BPPCC4K is easier to hold but the ZCAM E2 is easier to rig up or put on a gimbal or glidecam.

ZCAM E2 is Epic

I was in the same tesiture before buying the BMPCC 4K. I watched lots and lots of comparisons, and the Z CAM was super interesting, however, I prefered to lose some slow mo capabilities as well as form factor to get, at least for me, overall better image quality, as well as an ecosystem that includes the industry standard color grading software, cause that's something to keep in mind: when you buy a BMD camera, you also get Davinci Resolve Studio. So happy with my pocket 4k.

Sorry but they don't have 4 by 3 sensor size, only Z-cam has. Blackmagic has 16 by 9 sensor size.

A stupid question though, is the 4k open gate 160fps possible in Prores HQ?

Nice video man! The only reason I can't find any other camera to compete with BMPCC at the price is because of RAW. But this camera looks like the best option (at cheaper) to really compete. I own the 1080p BMPCC but it really shows its age now because of the 1080 video

BMD has an ecosystem. Z will never have that. You can go from acquisition to delivery with BMD. Never the Z. And with the new Gen 5 BMD color science, Z has no chance. I’m not a BMD fanboy. I’ve owned and still own, Sony, canon, Pana, so it’s not coming from a biased opinion. BMD has more to offer than even Red does for an efficient workflow from start to finish.
