What do you think? Is this easier than cutting a hole in the wall, running wire, and installing a new receptacle?
ОтветитьWill this work if I am working with has another switch at the top of the stairs. Wish I can attach pics of how the wiring is attached
ОтветитьWhat if you don't have a neutral??
ОтветитьHow can i change that and add a motion sensor and receptacle to independent
ОтветитьLifesaver!! I am just a dumb old girl and thought this would be straight forward, but when I wired it up (connecting BOTH white neutrals to the combo outlet...duh...) only the socket worked. I moved the wires around a bit, and still no luck on the light switch. Then I found your video. I made the pigtail out of the excess wire that was in the wall, and got everything attached and working perfectly according to your instructions. THANK YOU!!!
Ответитьdo you have a video to replace the light switch with a just the 2 plug outlet?
ОтветитьI want to add a plug/socket like this but I have two switches that work the same light on opposite ends of the room. Will this still work?
ОтветитьHello good afternoon, very informative the video, but my light switch doesn’t have a ground cable, can I still switch from a light switch to a combo outlet??
ОтветитьThanks for your time.
Very helpful video.
Great teaching 👍
ОтветитьThe diagram that came with the combo wasn't helpful, so I wasn't sure that I had figured out how to add the receptacle part to the switch part. Thanks to your clear demonstration I now know what to do and don't need to worry about creating a hazard. Thanks so much! You probably saved me a couple hundred dollars.
ОтветитьThanks so much for this video and the detailed explanation of how to wire it. I had installed one but the switch didn’t control the light. NOW i understand why and the best bonus was understanding LOAD and LINE differences. Thanks again!!!
ОтветитьThis is going to make bathroom remodel a LOT easier. I had never heard of this before. Thank you so much for your channel. Will be visiting often.
ОтветитьHow would I power the receptacle from the switch? The load in this case would be the receptacle.
ОтветитьCan I do this to a garbage disposal switch? The garbage disposal switch only had a white, black, and ground wire in the box
ОтветитьThe light switch is supposed to be lit when the switch is off so you can see it in the dark
ОтветитьI am making a headboard with “His & Her” led reading lights, separately switched on each side of the bed. In addition to the switch, I was going to make it a combo switch. I wanted to run these off of a made up quad box “extension cord” box with two switched outlets. Does this sound feasible?
ОтветитьHow to wire a double plug to a light switch to a light
ОтветитьI purchased a Blink Wired Flood Light and Camera, and wanted to install it and install a switch and outlet combo for it as well. This video helped me to understand how to wire the switch. Awesome video. very clearly explain and easy to follow. Thank you.
ОтветитьI purchased a Blink wired flood light with camera and want to install it over my garage door and install an on and off switch for it as well. I was able to follow this video to understand the wiring of the switch and outlet combo and how to install it. Awesome video. Very easy to follow and the information is clear. Thank you.
ОтветитьHola amigo. Los tornillos negros serían la fase y el plateado de arriba del mismo lado el retorno y el de abajo del lado izquierdo. El neutro y arriba de ese en verde tierra física?
ОтветитьHighly recommend putting something like a Wago on the end of each of the hot wires before testing line or load. You can still test by placing the meter lead into one the push connectors and it's a much safer method than having hot bare copper.
ОтветитьQuestions does the outlet stay on even if the light is off
Ответитьwhy are you showing combination switch that is NOT carried by Lowe's and Home Depot?!! You spend to much time on useless instructions. That's not the switch most of us are going to wire!!!
ОтветитьThank you so much for posting the video. Certainly a new thing for me to learn.
I have 2-questions:
1) I have a receptacle on the wall located very close to the floor. What can be done to prevent small children to touch it to avoid accidents? any Protector?
2) Do you have a video on adding a On/Off Toggle switch for a receptacle that need to installed at an height of 5 or 6' height to turn the power off?
Thanks again.
What a helpful channel! Thanks for the great advice!
ОтветитьThanks for the video I could not figure out how to make the receptacle work on the light switch
ОтветитьWhat size bit or what's the name of that bit on your screwdriver? doesn't look like a phillips.
ОтветитьWhat happens if I have no ground wire on the light switch? Can I still do it?
ОтветитьI pulled out my switch. I have no ground wife no white wire but I can see it by the housing. And I have a hello and black. Can I do it with no ground wire ????
ОтветитьMy light switch wiring only has one black and one white wire. How do I wire the switch so the outlet and light switch to work?
ОтветитьWhat if you only have 3wires? Black, white, copper? Really old house
ОтветитьWhat if you only have 3 wires coming out of the box? I want my light switch to run two vanity lights and the plug in to be separate.
ОтветитьI'd do this but in a bath room , and the out let would be used for an electric razor by a sink, so It should probably be GFIC
ОтветитьOutstanding channel. I was just working on one of these in my attic and couldn't figure the neutrals. Thanks!
ОтветитьPerfectly helpful. Thanks very much for this!
ОтветитьMy college dorms have these in the walls and I don't see any reason for the switch as they do nothing at all. What are the uses for a switch plug combo? What could they be used for that is obviously not happening here? It doesn't shut off the power flow or anything. It is just a useless switch
ОтветитьThanks for your help
ОтветитьWhat if you only have 1 black and 1 white wire in your box?
ОтветитьHi, Thanks for the videos. Very helpful. But, I have a question. I have three switches that control the interior garage lights. I want to change two of the switches to a switch/outlet combo. The current switches have a black, white, red and ground. My brother has been trying his skills but we have not been able to figure it out. Can you help with which wires go to where? Thanks,
ОтветитьThank you for making it really easy to follow!!
ОтветитьIt won't work if there is not two ground or black 14/2 wiring Some one light /switch fixture it is only one 14/2 wire
ОтветитьI notice you didn't wrap electrical tape around the combo switch?
ОтветитьThanks for this video, very helpful 👍
ОтветитьOld house, only has 2 wires coming out of the box on the wall.
I Want to install , combo switch. What are my chances of putting it in and not having to run a line? Help ?
Great video. I was doing this exact task in my master bath as it only had a light swtich and not pwr outlets in there. Your video was very straightforward and what i learned from it helped me be successful in my upgrade.
ОтветитьThanks for your help buddy
ОтветитьI wish I could have seen this earlier. I wanted an extra plug in the bathroom for a dehumidifier( stupid enough, the bathroom fan is a recirculating fan, not an exhaust fan. They should lock up the contractor) the electrician was asking $400 because of pulling wire from the light switch. There are two light switches in the bathroom and one could have be used as a combo GFI/switch.
ОтветитьI have a problem with bathroom light combination switch. Turned breaker off. Pulled out switch and there is only one red wire and the black and white. Bought a new combination switch and installed and the light still does not turn on but the fixture does work after testing it elsewhere. I am not sure the problem...
ОтветитьExcellent as always. 😊 Thank you!
Question -- I have older home... want add this combo switch.
Box has only (black) HOT and (white) NEUTRAL. I added (green) GROUND.
Keeping tab intact to allow switched light and constant feed to outlet...
How do I handle the one hot and one neutral?
