I love the tips! Keep ‘em coming and we’ll use them on Flip Bike!
ОтветитьHey fam, not sure if it's done, but finding it hard to find. I bought a fixxer-upper mtb for the Mrs. Has lots of chips on the frame. I want to repaint the whole frame. Is there a vid on something like this? I think the whole bike should be stripped and paint the frame on it's own etc. Cheers
Ответитьanother tip for bolt holes if they are big enough. Foam Earplugs. super cheap and easy to remove afterwards if you dont have spare bolts lying around.
ОтветитьA good tip is if you used only some of your spray can, and want to save the rest of it, wipe of the nozzle when you are done with a paper towel, and even better use some isopropyl alcohol to clean it. That way the next time you go to use your spray can, it doesnt have a bunch of dried paint on the nozzle making the spray pattern funky.
ОтветитьSuper random but I painted that exact stem earlier this summer, I think it came to me on a Rockhopper.
ОтветитьThis was almost hard to watch…damn.
ОтветитьCan u make a video on painting bolts?
ОтветитьI love this channel because you are such a normal guy doing such funny and awesome stuff!
ОтветитьDoes this method work for mtb forks like a Fox 36, or Rockshox fork? Or do you want to do a more professional way of painting that?
Ответитьcan sobody tell me wich paint i should use so like wich brand pls
ОтветитьHey, I already have an air compressor. Is it worth it to buy like a paint gun that works with the compressor, or I use a spray can?
ОтветитьWhen you finish a coat of paint, turn the can upside down and give it a quick spray downwind or away from anything important. That will clear the tube in the paint can and help prevent splatter or clogging the next time you use it.
ОтветитьGreat vid buddy 👍🚴
Ответитьhe doesnt know a n95 mask doesnt do anything to prevent particulates from spray paint you need a p99 or p100 mask.. they have masks but easier to find a cheap respirator with proper filters.
ОтветитьWhen are we going to get another flip bike episode?
ОтветитьUse proper respirator to not die slowly :) even outside the ine in the vid only fittingbfor light dust ir paint particulate. You need elastomeric one with replaceable cartridges rated for this stuff. It is carbon filter without. 3m always has good stuff and they have cheap halfmask too. For people with bugger budgets and more projects, just get the full face variant so uoiu do not have to fiddle fot fitting eye oritection everytime
ОтветитьCan you do this on a bike frame?
ОтветитьAlways clean before you sand your parts so it prevents fish eye or alligator in the paint finish. Using a some dish soap like dawn in the wet sand process works well . Other than that your good . Thanks for all the great advice in your tutorials.
ОтветитьYou and your dog look alike. Hahaha. That's so funny! Thanks for this amazing video!
ОтветитьCool 👍😎
ОтветитьLoved the brain cell comment.
ОтветитьThis what I’m looking for I got a lot of metal paint for mine it’s going good
ОтветитьThe perfect match car paint definitely doesn't have hardners in it. It's just basic lacquer spray paint . You can use 2k clear over it tho and that does have hardner in it
ОтветитьI can paint a kasset ? 8-9-10.. ?
ОтветитьHonestly, you can use scotchbrite to scuff up a surface for paint prep. Especially if it's anything anodized or previously painted. If it's steel, probably best to use 320-400 grit paper. Really, anything to "mar" the surface. I've painted entire vehicles, and we use 320 as the final. Wet is not really needed. So long as the surface is free of dust and oils after sanding. For small parts you can use an acetone wash. Get you a small glass jar, put some acetone in it and swirl the parts in it. Allow to air dry. It's quick. I always recommend a light coating of primer before paint. Primer adheres to metal better, and paint adheres to primer better. Feel me? Will paint stick to metal? Yes. But not as good as it'll stick to primer. I'm no professional, or a rocket surgeon, just a gear head that also rides bikes.
ОтветитьYou get awesome spraygun type attachments for spraycans which really help make the spraying you do feel more natural. Maybe worth a look, I know we get a Rustoleum brand one here in South Africa
ОтветитьEnjoying all the videos, a few tips from my side, after masking off an item, I would clean it with some alcohol to remove any oil, I would pre heat the item to around 30°C and cure/dry it with a bar/infrared heater and not a blower heater to prevent any dust particles blowing onto the sticky paint (im also not a pro spray painter)
ОтветитьI think you are still doing a great job.
ОтветитьIf you do alot of spraying get a rattle can sprayer.
ОтветитьI like to use rubber gloves with tack clocth makes your hands sticky.
ОтветитьDuplicolor Perfect Match has harder in it? Ya noo
Ответитьyou don't make enough adventure videos mountain biking. 🙏
ОтветитьWear gloves as you don't want the chemicals getting into your system through your skin. I'd even recommend doing up your hoody to stop your hair getting paint on it. Basically cover up as much as possible. It might seem like overkill but that shit is bad for your health and you really don't want long term consequences.
It's an incredibly satisfying thing to do just be careful.
Do you need a primer and a top coat before and after painting it though?
ОтветитьGreat video - I like to paint stuff ^_^
I recommend ETOE channel for painting tips and tricks. He is a professional designer and bike painter, but he also has a DIY videos, where he uses spraycans, which everyone can buy. Also Q&A videos with answers to many important questions of DIY painters.
Duplicolour is toxic as fuk
ОтветитьYou know, for the size of part you're doing, you could be powder coating. You wouldn't be able to do a bike frame on an amuture set up, but all the little caps and stuff, totally could.
Ответить"Well i did DuN DöN dŐ and so it dripped and so that's how to fix it"
ОтветитьJust a tip, soak the sand paper for wet sanding
ОтветитьPerfect, I'm planning to repaint my bike with spray paint tommorow.
ОтветитьThe main question is:
How To Paint Aluminium?
Do we need primer to paint
ОтветитьSeth,
I am a retired aircraft painter and beginner mountain bike rider. I’ve noticed how you wrap the forks with tape when your painting…here’s a tip; instead of tape, just wrap the part with aluminum foil then just tape the ends. It’s much faster, especially when trying to de-mask.
There are the million mistakes of the master of anything..
I wonder how many less we need make now for having you tube?
I have done so much with this as a resource...how many lifetimes of mistakes have I avoided by now?
Best video again we love you so much Mr seth !!!
Ответитьbut will it work with a frame-like can i do it the same way
ОтветитьAs a non professional : When sanding a part flat, you can use tempered glass or flat tile to get a perfect flatness to the part. This will also help after done painting to get a non-pro finish using higher grip sandpaper.
ОтветитьTry bengalack its cheap and good
