if the daughter didn't want to live in there, what might be understandable concerning costs and that she lives far away maybe, why not selling it to someone who wants to keep it up. let alone the books are worth a fortune (at least museal)... and the grand piano could have kept in good condition. do you know what a grand piano this size (concerto?) costs nowadays? unbelievable... a crime they let this place rot. and a shame :/

Odd how there's a Kenwood Amp, but all of the radios are seriously older. If the one man lived there alone, he must have been a serious recluse & just used that amp and a few modern appliances, but simply left everything else as was until he died or left. The wealthy don't usually just abandon such places. There must be a twist in the tale somewhere. Very nice to see inside. Thanks!

It looked like a stick of butter was still on a butter dish in the tea cabinet.

this makes me teary eyed. like, you think about the people who once called this their home, what were their wants and dreams, who were the people they loved,,,its also proof that a house needs people, if not it just dies <3

I'd buy it, clean it up, reinforce and upgrade the roofing, have the chimneys swept and repaired, and move in. Looks like a great home to actually live in. I wouldn't repaint the interior,. I love all the colors and stylee.

What in the world makes you think this a ‘1600’s’ mansion?? It’s 19th century - at best. The interior is full of worthless 20th century would-be antiques… sorry to burst your American bubble…

This video is awesome, but so sad to see the end of what must have been an amazing family tree.

Did you contact local authorities to fins out which family owns the building? If not, why not?

I always feel bad for beautiful homes which are abandoned.
They are just waiting for life to resume with new inhabitants...
or end with demolition.
