Erratum: The 300ZX convertible was 1992, not 1982. The subtitles show it correctly.
ОтветитьI was always was a Honda and Nissan guy to me they were fun to drive while Toyota seems like an old person car
ОтветитьMy 2nd car at 18 was 72’ 240❤ no other Z was comparable as a pure sports car.
ОтветитьSo, until 1988 the Z was basically the same from 1970, this is incredible, this is really a car evolution, and not just a continuation of the name, and it is funny to see that after change the car, after some years it did not did the same work from the original Z.
Ответитьz32 300ZX :D
ОтветитьA married couple showed up at our house with a brand new, fully loaded white 300zx back in 1984 (I’d just turned 15), w/digital instruments!
I’m still feeling the insanely exciting effects of seeing, touching, hearing and smelling it for the very first time … to this very day!
I loved the 240 Z but it did not even come close to a Porsche 911
ОтветитьAs an American, I always wondered why many non-Americans pronounced “Z” as “Zed”. Turns out it’s because of the French. The French basically adapted the Greek Zeta as Zed and most English speakers followed. Americans disavowed this as we often do. After all, why allow the French to define our language?
ОтветитьNissan would crush with 510 in Europe and the quality was better than anything popular average in old continent.
In '80 six in line of diesel was scheduled after 800 000 to be refurbished.
Well.
Gee ! I love the Nissun Zee.God Bless Merica ! 🇺🇸 🙏 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
ОтветитьSir, I just LOVE your videos! Thank you very much.
ОтветитьZed
ОтветитьIn the beginning, you state that the Z stayed true to its roots. I beg to completely disagree with you on that point. Its roots were basically fun and AFFORDABLE sports cars that people would enjoy driving. The key word obviously is AFFORDABLE. Yes, the car was indeed affordable early on, but after the second generation car, (79 to 83), they got more and more gt oriented and less sporty and worst of all more expensive putting it out of reach for many and eventually killing the car temporarily anyway because of it. I've personally had many Z cars over many years, almost all of them 1st generation cars. I did have an 81 for a while, which I liked a lot and an 86, which I regretted and got rid of. But the first generation cars were indeed the cheap and affordable car they were meant to be. As we all know, the car they are selling now is mostly out of reach for many who would love to have such a capable car. Unfortunately for the young people today, even the first generation cars are far too expensive to get into. When I was buying them back in the mid 80s thru the 90s, I never had to pay any more than a couple of grand for a decent example. Nowadays, even the junks are 20 plus thousand dollars to obtain. Makes me wish I hadn't run all of my Z cars into the ground. They were cheap to own and keep on the road back then. But now they've gone through the roof. Too bad.
ОтветитьWales UK is going to introduce 20mph speed limits everywhere soon....We won't need anything more powerful than a Citroen 2CV when that happens!
ОтветитьMy Mother had one of the first 100k 240z with the chrome piping on the bumpers, white on black. There were round Laguna Seca stickers on it's side windows leading me to believe it was a demo. Model, possibly even used in commercials ?
She bought it in 78 in northern California and passed it on to me in 84.
Zed is the way to go...Zed it is...!🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺
ОтветитьGreat video, I wanted a Z when I saw a 260(?)Z at the earls court motor show in 1974 as a little boy. Bought a 350Z new in 2005 as divorce present to myself! Thing is, it was a really boring car. Too long geared, souless Renault engine, dead handling.... no character, no passion. I really can;t agree the 350Z was at all exciting I'm afraid.
It replaced my Impreza Sti, now there was a car with character. Should never have sold it!
None of the later cars beat the original sleek design of the 240Z.
ОтветитьI love the 240Z. But I think I would rather have a 510. Actually any Japanese car from the 60's or 70's would be great. Even the 80's
ОтветитьA smart and good looking car in the '70s, who turned ugly, huge and fat in the '80s, and resurrected in the 2000's as a swollen abomination with kitsch interiors.
The only way to make a reasonable comeback today would be to make a small, practical and sporty EV, but Nissan hasn't got the technology, and besides the market isn't interested anymore in such kind of cars. Every EV SUV is faster and more practical than old school, unpractical, ICE "sporty" cars.
It is always a pleasure to watch your content: well-researched, soberly presented, and highly informative.
ОтветитьZed 💀
ОтветитьI love this YT channel and the fact the presenter loves Lego! After my own heart on both accounts!
ОтветитьI like the Usé ov the Z-Cárs Themé
😃😃😃😄😄
Japen cheap and unrealiable really
ОтветитьI had worked at a Nissan dealership in the 80s as a mechanics apprentice and fell in love with a 280 ZX-T. I had seriously lost some sleep over the question of how to scrape together the money for that beauty but in the end, this fair lady was simply out of my reach. So it was keeping on with my Datsun 100A (which was in fact fun to drive, almost like a Mini).
In Germany, only the 2+2 body styles were available from the 260 on which was a bit of a pity since especially the 280 looked a bit ungainly as the 2+2. And we could only dream of the electronic dashboards which were available for the 280 and 300 overseas, plus a number of gadgets more. At least Nissan was generous with the engines as the turbos were available, too.
Fun fact: almost none of the 300ZX Twin Turbos had the nominal power - most of them had more, with a spread from 20 to 50 hp. Unfortunately, the Vmax was limited to 250 kph anyway.
ℹFurther informationℹ
September 15, 2020: Nissan unveiled a prototype ready-for-production called the 'Nissan Z Proto Concept'.
August 17, 2021: Nissan Z was unveiled in New York City presented by Cody Walker (brother of deceased Paul Walker), dropping the numericals, codenamed Z34.
The Nissan Z is based on the Nissan FM platform, which means it underpins its predecessor, the Nissan 370Z. The exterior design is all-new, the interior is all-new with new technology e.g. digital instrument cluster, and a new engine. On the other hand, the Nissan Z retains the same door trims, a number of interior switchgear, and A/C controls from the 370Z. For the engine, it has a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 produces 405hp and 475Nm (350lb) of torque. There is a choice between a Jatco-manufactured 9-speed automatic with launch control or a 6-speed manual.
After the unveil, Nissan announced a manual-only launch limited edition will be introduced before the production model. The limited edition called 'Z Proto Launch Edition' limited to 240 units and has the same features as the prototype, includes the dual-tone yellow and black exterior, bronze-colored wheels with yellow brake calipers, black seats with yellow-theme, and yellow-trim shift knob, yellow stitching throughout the interior, suede and cloth door trim panels and Proto Spec badging.
April 2022: Japan announced pricing and specs for the Nissan Z, with the production car comes in two trims: Z Sport (Fairlady Z Version S in Japan) and Z Performance (Fairlady Z Version ST in Japan). Nissan began production of the Z sports car.
Nissan announced the Z sports car will be sold in North America, Japan, Australia and other countries. The Z car won't be sold in Europe and UK, due to strict emissions and noise regulations.
I have a 370Z Sport and it's the most fun I've ever had with a car. Handling is phenomenal, and the power with only basic bolt on mods is impressive. When you rev it up and dump the clutch at a red light you take off like a rocket. It puts such a smile on my face.
ОтветитьYou need to update this video! The new 400Zed is brilliant. 🙂
ОтветитьThat was a Datson 240,260,280.
ОтветитьI wonder where that amazing engine came from. Was it a Yamaha development - turbos, valve timing and all that?
Ответить"Z"!
ОтветитьWe have to thanks the American market for many awesome cars from Japan like 240Z, RX7 and the MX5.
ОтветитьThank you! Excellent video. My favorite is the '89 model. Non turbo. 👍
ОтветитьThe only 2+2 versions that were ok looking were the early cars. From the 280zx onward, the 2+2 cars were hideous.
ОтветитьGREAT CAR.
ОтветитьI love the original design to this day I would still like one
ОтветитьI went into the Datsun dealer and got a 280zx brochure.Oh boy I loved that car with its tarty red interior.....but then I was a kid.Shame they rotted away....
ОтветитьI'd like to see a 4 banger that makes 200hp in a light Sentra based sports car.
ОтветитьI had a 280 Z. My Beautiful Beast. Thanks for the memories.
Ответитьjust imagine if they had made a convertible . . .
ОтветитьWhat about Albrecht goertz who played a huge part in the designing of the 240z
ОтветитьLego Technic 8830 also had 4 wheel steering, but admittedly it was a 6 wheel vehicle.
ОтветитьMiss the 280zxtt it a 200 HP ONLY sales in europeu maximum speed of 230klh This last .version sale in 1983
ОтветитьI dont understand how a brand can let a model die that easily after so many years! I mean shit make the car cheaper even if it doesnt have the monster power but keep the name alive thats worth more, how much money and resources do companies spend on marketing a name and to let it die that easily just boggles my mind
Ответитьtruly 'orrible
ОтветитьI had one of these in the 70s..I dont know what happened to it though...it was my favourite matchbox car !
ОтветитьThis is a Great channel for historical car documentaries. Detailed research and analysis !
ОтветитьI love the joke with the theme tune, very good! The Americans might be a bit confused though. You might have to go a bit Softly Softly with your overseas fans. Love your work BC. Love and peace.
