i almost didn't watch this because it involved murder, but I enjoyed it very much. Great acting.

Arthur Lubin the director was also the director of the Francis , the taliking mule , movies and the TV show Mr Ed . The costume designers made Ella Raines look good in those machanic coveralls. Brian Donlvey usually played the suave villan not the hero . The ill fated Helen Walker played the villan in this movie . Silent screen queen Mae Marsh played the support role as the small town mom .

Helen Walker is astonishingly beautiful - a black and white Amber Heard - and just as duplicitous. Amazingly, she had been driving (wildly, according to a witness) in a crash which killed 1 and injured 2 hitchhikers, so in this film (3 years later) she is carrying all that emotional/historical baggage. It sounds like she drank herself into an early grave. Any man would sell his soul for a night with such a woman, so for Brian Donlevy to send her flowers every day, and let her call him softly, is pardonable.

great film; wondered why they didn't check the burned beyond recognition guy dental records to find they don't match husband, and the beautiful mechanic in full makeup pounding on an engine with a hammer was a bit much. and the line on new cars, being different from jalopies to work on is a stretch too. Those "carburetor valves". can be as tricky to fix as a "widget combobulator."

So sick of people who hate white people. This movie is great.

Great movie! Have watched few times, wondering why Hollywood doesn’t make this type movies anymore, my conclusion is majority people working at Hollywood had their brains washed with leftists ideology, and totally forgot what made America as the greatest country in the world, they either forgot American history or betrayed it? I can’t mention any good movies in recent 10 to 20 years? Please let me know if someone can suggest a good one in recent years, would be greatly appreciated……
