Now the early AR 10 had some issues but the weapon had so much promise and indeed does today. I think it's better than the FAL, and definitely better than the M14. I hope to practice with mine until I can justify a 6.5 creedmore upper

Unfortunate ArmaLite went with modified M14 magazine but that was in the 90s not sure if they're doing that currently or even making the AR-10

I hope one day armalite remakes this thing. Brownells brn10 is the only ar10 with a fixed carry handle upper and I’m dying to make a build with a fixed handle

Ian love your videos don't mean to nitpick but you said magazine hold open at least twice referring to the modified M-14 mag when I'm pretty sure you meant bolt (or more accurately bolt carrier) hold open. Just saying.

Acquired an AR10B twenty years ago. Installed a Chip McCormick competition trigger. The most accurate AR I've ever owned. The factory trigger was downright obscene.

Armalite did consider (or rather didn't consider) the aluminum waffle magazine and they were available in large numbers and not expensive at the time as there wasn't much demand. SR25 rifle production was small and expensive at the time. They were rejected by Armalite because they didn't work great when new and didn't wear well with use as the aluminum stretched out of shape. The M14 magazines proved to be the most reliable. The aluminum waffle magazines just weren't a good design.

I am really not an expert on firearms and haven't fired one in my life but that charging handle looks cumbersome to use.

Odd how people think that this was in Fallout: New Vegas, seeing how the Service Rifle was chambered in 5.56x45mm (as opposed to 7.62mm NATO), had the charging handle on the right-hand side, M16A1-esque handguards and a forward assist, and didn't have the bolt catch.

Maybe it's the brown furniture and straight magazine that made them think that, and nothing more.
