7 Cheap Bass Guitars That Don't Suck - Great Tone, Budget Friendly Prices

Managed to get my pre-owned SR300E (pearl fade metallic) for £95 in 2021. I think it was a 2017 effort, nowt wrong with it but the guy thought it was broken, purely because it had no 9v battery inside, so he couldn't test it. I offered him more money when I fitted a new Duracell, as the thing was immaculate but he was happy to let it go. Only thing missing were strap buttons that were easily replaced. Easily the best thing Ive played/owned since I got a Warwick Rockbass for around £130!!

The ignition Hofner is essentially the same as the super expensive versions other than the pegs and the pickguard. A great deal -- if that's what you want.

I've had the Squire 70's Jazz bass for quite a few years now. It's such an amazing bass that does so much right for such a great price!

So yeah. Began playing bass at 14 years old in the late 60's. Even made a living from it for a while. I love all these guitars for different reasons, but none of them give me an excuse not to buy a Fender.

That first bass kinda sucked ngl it sounded like it was trying to send clean and distorted signal to the amp

Yamaha is another brand that deserves attention. They make competitively excellent equipment at virtually all price points. As with Ibanez, they've really expanded the features, sounds, tones, and playability of affordable instruments.

ibanez and hoffner the best 2 here imo, in that order.

Cheap? The first one is about 600bucks

You put on a nice presentation. Good up-down picking style. One thing about the E.B. SUB pickup. Watch out for those sharp edges on the poles. If you are not careful, those edges will cut you. You won't see this issue on the US made models. But no doubt about it. For the cost, a SUB is a pretty sweet deal. I like the Ibanez you demonstrated. Can't lose on the lower cost Ibanez basses. THANKS!

Which one is good for a beginner I would be left handed on the strings of the guitar thought about getting a guitar before but thinking about getting one I bought a Microkorg synth piano years ago but after that had thoughts about getting a guitar I bought one more instrument than that was a harmonica but now am a lot into auto painting but almost two years now found about painting from just trying to get rust off my old truck and after got it off started painting not good enough at it yet but will be doing it this year though since it will be warmer in Michigan soon to paint.

I find using a pick for every single demos doesn't really give quite an accurate representation of the guitars tone for other genres, given picks will effect the dynamic range due a slow attack. Picks are great for certain things, but if you're going to do a Bass Review, please do comparisons using fingers and picks.

I have the 5 string Squier Jazz bass and it's really punchy - but demo'ing basses with distortion and a pick?! ... not entirely helpful I'm afraid LOL

i like the design of the Paul mcCartney style gutiar but not the controlls on the guitar i hate gutiars that have control buttons to turn the pickup off whats wrong with just turning off with volume knob like in old days AND DOES anybody else believe the conspiracy theory that the real Paul McCartney is dead. and the one alive today is an imposter Paul McCartney
