I think destributists would be wise to look into libertarian socialism and market socialism. They suggest the means of production (businesses) should be run democraticly by the workers.

The speaker seems to make conservatism morally equal to leftism.He is clearly a narrowly educated man who fails to see the murderous history of leftism, nor does he explain exactly which conservatives he is talking about

At one time the companies care about their employees and not the bottom line completely and they paid livable wages to the head of a family and provided insurance. The government only helped the unemployable or subsided families but don't take the father out to do that.

This is so rue. Women are not better off or the family. But especially the children. They are the biggest losers. Abortion, mothers working divorce no fathers in the home etc.

34 minute mark. Looked up that quote of Chesterton’s because I was going to share it (easier to copy and paste) and found out it is a J.R.R. Tolkien quote, not Chesterton ... perhaps it was Chesterton quoting Tolkien or Tolkien quoting Chesterton?

Absolutely love distributism. It truly is the solution to our social and economic crisis.

Who cannot be impressed with Chesterton's apt and ever timely critique of our social institutions? But lectures like this are a dead end. They leave us amused and nodding our heads but most likely inert to the action really required. There is no way to fix our institutions by addressing the institution as the object of our interest

The only formula for societal reformation is repentance and personal moral renewal through the blood of Jesus Christ. Once grace of Christ's sacrifice is experienced it cries out to be shared through our sacrificial service.

Only changed hearts will change society.

The term "capitalism" is a nonsense term invented by the Marxists. We should cease using it. It is meant as a term of abuse rather similar to the terms Marx used in reviling the Jews. It is merely a matter of what I'd call the fundamental human right of free enterprise. The right to dispose of our property as we see fit. Big corporations are creation of the state. Think of railroads.

Chesterton quite prophetic here. I love the idea of distributism and wish it were more widely known and practiced.

Capitalism has ushered in the age of anti-Christ so somebody better come up with something concrete and implement it or we're dead. Things are very much more serious than in Chesterton's time.

@onesnzeros I suppose you could consider it irrellevent, but you would be betraying the only noble quality in pluralism and that is appreciating what different points of view can contribute to the greater good.
