If you live in the US Amazon has a 50% discount on the Swiss Victorinox Huntsman, it's only $28.00.
ОтветитьThis is a great knife for EDC and my 2nd Victorinox Swiss knife (Explorer & Huntsman). I do admit that I prefer Letherman Multi Tool's (Wave, Signal, Rebar, Super Tool 300).
ОтветитьMy favorite is the Deluxe Tinker. I've used it almost every day without fail.
ОтветитьLost my toothpick, does anyone know where i can get a replacement? Also my SAK Victrinox Huntsman doesnt have the needle or the needle hole 😅, is this a old or someother model am i mistaken ? I am in the USA btw
ОтветитьJust swapped it out for a Deluxe Tinker. It has pliers! You can’t beat that.
ОтветитьPrice
ОтветитьThe toothpick is an absolute champion among the tools a victorinox holds. It can unlock a ziptie, pick a lock (with the help of the tweezers) and clean your nasty ass british grill (aka teeth).
ОтветитьI love Swiss Army knives and have bought many for myself or for gifts. The sole issue I have is sharpening them. That great but tiny edge is difficult to get to without scratching the blade.
ОтветитьI'm in the market for a good backpacking tool and I've imagined the hook to be a good tent stake puller.
ОтветитьMy brother gave me the older version of this exact knife 30 years ago before I migrated to the other side of the world. It is still my goto knife around the house and has been on many hiking trips. I just inspected it and it still looks and feels like it is brand new. Exceptional quality
Ответитьwhere can you get the pressurized ballpoint pen for the huntsman?
ОтветитьAs a person with braces, I love the toothpick
ОтветитьThe tooth pick is the most useful item in my opinion.
ОтветитьThis is the 1st knife a got my son . Useful video good job 👍
ОтветитьDo you know where i can buy those seperate attachments for the knife
Like the ferro rod ?
I suppose just about everyone has their own idea about what is important in a knife for outdoor use, and I am no exception. A few decades ago my family spoiled me once with a gift of a Victorinox Swiss Champ, in its leather pouch. I had an SAK and the SC went into a drawer, and I seldom used it.
As I got more involved and interested in knives and their uses, I came to realize that, far from being unwieldy and awkward, my Swiss Champ was just that, a Champ, and I've used it more and more over later years. My reasoning is that if I'm ok with 4 layers, I might just as well go the whole hog and use the SC! The extra tools/gadgets in the pouch helped a lot.
Recently, I've become seduced with Victorinox's larger knives and after buying and reading Felix Immler's book, I graduated my choices up to the Ranger Grip 78/79 series.
Even later I stumbled across the Hercules, and fell in love! I had at last found the knife of my dreams! The Hercules has the extra length and strength and choice of tools that I would, and do, use most often, and excludes those I don't really have a need for. Oh yes, at 200gms it is indeed heavier and it is bulkier, but the extra functionality amply repays one in the outdoors. It means one can, at a push, replace both a small pocket knife, and a 3" blade fixed blade with just one knife - the Hercules, or upgrade one's belt knife from a 3" blade to a heftier 5-6 inch blade. It just extends one's options to a new level.
I'd be very interested in hearing your take on my experience!
Cheers mate!
I've used the parcel carrier many times. I wouldn't like a victorinox without one.
ОтветитьHi JG! Just want to let you know that I just found your page and have been watching your Victorinox videos and love every one of them! I've had several of the smallest ones throughout my life but after learning more about the whole line, I know that I need to move up to have access to more tools on a daily basis. I'll definitely need to save my allowance for the top end ones. Thanks again sir.....

I never thought that once I bought the famous Swiss knife, I almost immediately had to worry about how to make it so that the knife would acquire acceptable functionality. Having considered all possible options for today, I decided to implant a nail file directly into the handle of the knife, directly into its surface, placing it diagonally to the corkscrew. Now I'm thinking about the implementation, so as not to spoil the appearance.
ОтветитьThis model, however, like many other Victorinox models, has only one but significant drawback - the lack of a nail file. Logic tells us that if the tools are opened with the nail, then the possibility of damage to the nail plate is quite likely, and accordingly there should be a tool to fix this trouble. The same need arises after you have used scissors to align the nail. It would seem that the logic is obvious and simple, but not for marketers and owners of the company. Obviously, such logic comes to the fore for them: "do you have a problem with our knife? then we suggest you buy two more."
Well, then, at least they should stop singing at every corner about how attentive they are to their customers, as well as praises about how thoughtful and functional their knives are.
So I dont think you can beat that for outdoors and EDC even for a multi-tool. I'm one to not convey to anyone what Im carrying for any purpose. Leathermans are more bulky and can be more noticeable.
I feel these knives appeal to masses of non-knife/outdoor people in such a posture of novelty that their excellence is very much underappreciated.
What a classic, wonderful tool.
The Parcel hook is great for crossing barbed wire - hold up for your friend with the SAK while he ducks it, then trade and go under
ОтветитьRanger is better
Plus also a swiss tool __
Just purchased my first Swiss Army knife got the huntsman
ОтветитьThe corkscrew is opposite the saw, which means you can screw it into a soft wood stick and create a mini pole-saw for extra reach.
ОтветитьHook is good for pulling up tent pegs
ОтветитьRanger‘s better: file
ОтветитьI would definitely break that ferro rod😂
ОтветитьJust got it today, online. Only £32. Absolute Bargain. Great knife.
ОтветитьI am an owner of several multitools but have never owned a Victorinox. I would like to understand why Victorinox is not concerned about the functionality not locking after opening. Is it not a problem for you that the blade can close on your fingers? Thank you
ОтветитьFieldmaster is better for the outdoors because the screwdriver comes in more handy than the corkscrew. Swisschamp is also an excellent option
ОтветитьThe toothpick is useful to release zip ties without damaging them.
ОтветитьLove your videos, Jonathan!
Have you ever considered having a look at the Executive?
Thinking of getting it for my workbag and was wondering what your thoughts on it are.
I have the Huntsman and the Leatherman Wave, I never leave home without them...
ОтветитьDoes the Huntsman that are Camo have the pin and ferro rod replacement? Or just the scale model?
ОтветитьI made decisions by myself to buy Fenix TK 16 v
V. 2 flashlight and Victorinix Swiss Army Huntsman knife. Later, I came across with reviews about both items on this chanel. I was glad that I learn how good my choice about both items was. Reviews on this chanel are expertly produced, Camera cork an lighting is no nonsenses work and it all serve the purpose it is supposed to, to show the item at hand and support very eloquently presented facts about item that's reviewed. It will be very difficult not to fall under the influence of reviewer's opinion since it's excellently and logically argued by very impartial and impressively informed gentleman.
From now on, I'll save some time and effort when choosing things I'll buy by going directly to this extremely valuable chanel. Many thanks!
Where I can buy the fire rod?
ОтветитьGot a black Huntsman on the way. Doesn’t say whether it comes with a pin or even a hole for one but it IS claiming to have special addition locking blades which I’m finding VERY hard to believe. I guess time will tell. I’m hoping to get it next week. Doesn’t say it comes with a pen either so I might just have to throw on some plus scales onto it with the addition of both. Either way, it’s still a little monster for a smaller platform SAK unless you get into their much bigger, heavier and costlier behemoths that they offer as well.
ОтветитьI wouldn’t buy any model that didn’t include the parcel hook. It’s a lot more useful than people give it credit for being. It’s so frikkin handy for so many things
ОтветитьAfter researching Swiss Army’s entire line up I have concluded that the Huntsman is about the best bang for the buck when it comes to their lighter more compact knives unless you want to get into the big behemoths. I’m surprised everyone doesn’t carry one. Quick, simple, light and easy addition to any pocket and so frikkin handy. I just ordered one.
Ответитьuse some heat shrink tube around the corkscrew tinder to protect it and keep it intact, i know it works because i carry the huntsman every day with the tinder in the corkscrew, amd it became very torn up and worn out in no time without the heat shrink tube.
Ответитьthe alox farmer plus is maybe as good or better, i use and carry the huntsman on me every day on a paracord lanyard with a nite eyes locking s Binner, attached to my belt.
ОтветитьThe corkscrew can be used to secure the SAK into a wood staff that will be used to spear fish. You then open the long knife. I've seen it done.
ОтветитьCan I replace the toothpick for a ballpoint pen in a Huntsman?
ОтветитьI have This exact knife, only without the hole for the needle, what is that called?
Ответитьi as a fisherman/, i use that parcel hook quite often...
Ответитьwould be perfect with an inline Phillips and magnifying glass
ОтветитьI like them.
ОтветитьSo wait would you use the Awl or the wire stripper to start a fire? I use the tooth pick for many things unrelated to teeth.
ОтветитьI inherited a Victorinox SAK from my parents. It is closest to the Huntsman, having all the same tools except the parcel carry hook, and there is no hole for a pin. Can anyone confirm, is this an earlier version of the Huntsman, or a different model? I'm pretty sure it was bought new in the 1990s.
