I thought that you always should diconnect the negative first to avoid a accidental short circuit.
Ответитьthought no tools were required
ОтветитьI tried this and it worked for about 24 hours All my lights came back on the b c I and the f c w and the car is having trouble passing 2500 rpms
ОтветитьWill this work on a 2006toyota camera?
ОтветитьThank you myman. I will try with my E46 that airbag light show up and i already replaced to the new airbags but the light is still there.
ОтветитьThanks for taking the time to post this. My '04 Volvo S60 has been going into limp mode pretty frequently, but idles just fine, (recently I had an idling issue fixed) but I am using aftermarket LED lights but I've had them in for 9 months or so without issue), and it also has an issue with the ABS module, however it's just the sensor which I have no clue how to replace, and my mechanic quoted me 5 hundred roughly and I can't afford that right now. When my car went into limp mode one day this homeless guy ran over to me w a tool bag and did the same thing you do in the video and she fired up and drove home just fine. I've used this method a few times when it gets thrown in limp mode, and it worked. It's been almost a week since I drove, and I'm trying to get it rolling right now and for some reason this method isn't working anymore. Possibly not draining all the way? I was told 45-60 seconds and that should do it, but I will now wait for an hour and see if that does the trick. If not any suggestions?
ОтветитьWould that get rid off Pgm-fi on the Honda crv 2.2 I dtec enginebeen trying all day
ОтветитьIs gonna remove ABS vsa TSA lights from dash? (Honda accord 2008)
ОтветитьA few other mechanics said to unhook the neg first
ОтветитьSo my daughter just got a 2007 Pontiac G6. She took it to get air in the tires. Came home and parked it. Now it won't start. Dang anti theft thing came on. I've tried unhooking the neg from battery, wait an hour. I've tried putting it in neutral. I've tried to do the 10-minute key thing ... still won't turn over. Battery's date says Dec 2022. Looks new.
ОтветитьI can't believe there are people out there still don't know to disconnect the negative terminal first. SMH.
ОтветитьI have a 2010 Ford focus bought a remanufactured ECM take it to Ford did not work car wouldn’t start they had to put back the old one in and the P0420 code still there waste of $850 all together will this work to get rid of the P0420 code?
ОтветитьWhere do you check the juice level? I couldnt find any juice in my car. I thought the orange stuff was juice at first but it turned out to be coolant.
ОтветитьYou made a short between the positive and negative poles. The correct way is to connect a 12 volt lamp between the two poles. Any remaining charge in the capacitors will discharge its charge in the lamp’s resistance.
ОтветитьIs this method possible on cars with diesel engines?
ОтветитьThis should only be done with a resister in the connection as rapid discharge can cause control module component damage
ОтветитьOnce u disconnect the battery just turn on head lights to drain power from ecu
ОтветитьHey bro, thanks for sharing it is great to see someone going through every step including safety tips, your awesome man, drive safe😃
ОтветитьDo this computer reset also reset the mileage to zero miles, you said the computer will be like new 0 miles 😂
ОтветитьWould*
ОтветитьWood this work on an audi q7 tdi??? Anyone knows??
ОтветитьIf my device engine soon light is on will this cut it off long enough for me to pass a smog test?
ОтветитьI am about to try however your tips and tricks seems great. Thank you.
ОтветитьThat works for son truck my s 10 com back in a few days and don't want to take to the wrong 😕 place .
ОтветитьWow thank you
ОтветитьActually you don't need the jumper cable at all. I disconnected the negative and that's it. Don't even need to disconnect the positive. Than I press the steering horn to make sure it discharge. Than wait a minute or 2 that's it. Nothing will be shorted that way. And my Honda clears every fault code when starting.
ОтветитьWill this work on my BMW 120i convertable
ОтветитьIt takes half an hour for the capacitors to discharge through a dead short? That must be a fuck ton of energy
ОтветитьDangit, my car's out of jews again
ОтветитьBut great idea though.
👍👍👍👍
You should have showed us your dashboard before and after the process. But you only showed it after. Why?
At least for clarity purposes.
No tools required?
10mm spanner: what am I?
No need to connect battery leads together, just turn the key on and push the brake pedal.
This will discharge any capacitors in the car.
Possible reason your throttle body and most likely your air flow meter are getting dirty is the K&N filter, over oiling is quite common and with a hot film air flow meter this can easily destroy them.
Auto Tech for over 50 years.
Just randomly seen the video now. Is it just me, or the jumper cable from the "negaty" (black) goes actually to the red one on a side, so basically positive and negative cable from the car are not connected together, which is not a great idea anyways. Maybe it's just me......
ОтветитьCould this help if the car is throwing a P0116 After a new ECT Module was put in? The 2009 Traverse is giving multiple temp readings on the scanner, so the local shop said they think it needs to go get looked at by a GM dealer.
ОтветитьThe main problem you now have is your ECU has to re learn to manage your emissions. You car will NOT pass smog if the ECU emission are NOT ready. You have to drive stop, turn off car, drive again, stop turn off ect for at least an hour
ОтветитьThere’s a measurable potential between the positive and negative cables when disconnected from the battery. I use a very thin copper wire wrapped several 100s of times around a pencil to create a “resistor”. Then connect one end to positive and the other end to negative. The connected voltmeter then shows a decreasing voltage. When voltage goes to zero the ECU is reset without damage.
ОтветитьNice! Just some thought coming to me. I wonder if anything like the clock, trip meter or odometer might be reset by this operation? Also, like in my car there are other displays - radio station memory, volume memory, fuel consumption memory, estimated miles remaining before need to refuel, keyfob ID and who knows what else...
ОтветитьThanks 😎 capacitor discharge Tool...wink wink.,
ОтветитьNot all internal data is removed by this method there are EEPROM that will retain data without power like your memory sticks or sim cards. Critical startup data needed to activate the ECU. If you have flags or error codes they will come back slowly.
ОтветитьThank you for the information.
Ответитьdidn.t work to erase P0100 code🤨
ОтветитьIt worked well. The radio and while making a Bluetooth call, they both would shut off for a few seconds and then come back on over and over, and I would lose power steering sometimes too. The check engine light came on and that's when I had Auto Zone give me a diagnostic trouble code, and it was showing the power train system, and ABS. Sure enough though, and the attendant tried to sell me a power train system for $456.90, but she made the mistake of saying that the codes just needed to be reset and that when I found this, and two other videos telling me to do this. Thank you very much!
ОтветитьHi sir great video but i been laughing because of your accent 😂 llol yoir fumny thanks for sharing
ОтветитьIt works but safer for ECU is to
put a 10 watt 1 ohm resistor across the battery cables after they both are removed from the battery
well, the code/s will come back later time for 1 or 3 hrs later what should we do next hey?
ОтветитьIf you just disconnected the earth cable and left it over night with the headlight position ON would this completely drain the system.
ОтветитьYou should add a resistor in the line. But this is just what I have heard.
ОтветитьDoes this work on bikes and scooters also? I have 125cc yamaha axis scooter and tried this but my check engine is still on 😕
ОтветитьIs this work for Honda Hybrid Vezel
Ответить
