The biggest mistake is no padding underneath it
ОтветитьIf I’m doing in on a basement with concrete I don’t need underlayment ether? Great video and thank you
ОтветитьVery nice , thanks . I have a question my installer want to put baseboards all the way down to ply board floor & then put Vinyl floor with a regular gap from wall(in my case baseboard) & fill that gap with quarter round- Is this correct? Any con or pro? Why doing like that- Thanks a lot
Ответитьpro tip. use a flathead screwdriver instead of plyers for staples, much easier.
ОтветитьI hate quarter round so I undercut .
ОтветитьWith any click type plank flooring especially LVP your first row is the most crucial. If you’re not straight on your first row and your planks edges don’t all long up perfectly, not even a 32nd off from the plank beside it you will be having a nightmare of a time by row 5, you never get your planks to lock together properly, you get gaps and you will want to rip your hair out. First couple rows you need to be on top of it so you can ensure your planks are in perfect position while you can still make adjustments
ОтветитьWhat did you use on the computer to show the measurements when you shifted it?
ОтветитьAlways start at an outside wall for straightest line. I do this everyday.
ОтветитьYou missed the final steps:
-Nail trim to wall
-Fill nail holes and sand flush
-Caulk trim
-Repaint trim
Sir why and what’s the season to cut the 2nd line and after ‘the flooring sheet. Pls advise.
ОтветитьThis was so profoundly helpful, thank you!
ОтветитьRemove nails if possible and use screws. Would be nice to use Quite Shield underneath for more comfortable walk on and
Some
Insulation.
Our LVP IS bowing at the seams after 12 months all over the house they installed straight on the slab
ОтветитьAnyone! I am replacing carpet w/ planks. The carpet butts up to ceramic tile on an arch and the molding is curved for the transition of carpet to ceramic tile. Looking for ideas??? I had thought about grinding the carpet crabbers in the molding smooth and later pounding the existing molding down onto the plank w/ space? Thanks
ОтветитьI am going to leave my high-profile great shape base trim on. If I slide the planking under the base trim, how do I hook on the trim puller on the planking that is under the base trim to pull it tight? Thanks
ОтветитьI like putting a cork underlayment under laminate/vinyl flooring.
ОтветитьChannel locks work the best for pulling staples.
ОтветитьThank you so much! You have a way of keeping things simple & clear. Especially like the suggestions about alternative tools, so no need to give up if you don't have the pro tools. 👍
ОтветитьAny underlay?
ОтветитьLeaving baseboards on is super hacky. I always remove/re-install. If they say its to expensive then i believe them, to expensive for them, a handyman will be more than happy to do what ever non sense you want.
ОтветитьI was really looking for how you dealt with the last piece in the rows. Thanks for the corners. Seems as if you just measure the piece needed to meet the baseboard then shoe molding can cover the gap. Is that correct?
Ответитьpulling off base, now you have to fix the wall and paint
ОтветитьWith the money I can save by doing this myself, would it be worth taking some of that and investing in new tools? Need to convince the wife! 😅
ОтветитьYou didn't use underlayment or glue, why
ОтветитьWhat kind of self level u was using?
ОтветитьCopper is micro-managing haha.
ОтветитьThis was amazing video for anybody wanting to DIY. Do you have an estimated cost for this particular project? I'm doing my whole second floor converting carpet to vinyl plank flooring. Planning on starting with the hallway first.
ОтветитьAnd remember to undercut the door frames a Qtr inch at least
ОтветитьI like the step by step, problem and solution demonstrations, glad you cleaned the floor for a fresh canvas
ОтветитьMy main question is do I need floor insulation under the vinyl? If not when I need it
ОтветитьAm I the only one that is weirded out by seems running in columns when opening the main door, instead of rows?
ОтветитьLooks hard
ОтветитьDIY jokers. And how very witty including the dog.... 🙄😴
ОтветитьHello guys, ther is already over 3 thousand comments, so i don't know if someone already asked same question, but I would like to know what a leveling mass is used here to make floor even. (I guess floor is made of wooden plates, ie. chipboard, or I'm wrong?)
ОтветитьI hate any and all quarter round!! Well done!
ОтветитьCan I just ask, I see your not using underlay, is it not necessary as I'm thinking of this laminate
ОтветитьWhy are you not using underlayment?
ОтветитьI’m in a debate that maybe someone can help.
We have a dip, it might be extra work, but I want to pull the floor and use stacks of 1/8 shims until it’s level. Then put the subfloor back down. I find this better, in theory, that using a half inch thick of putty.
Anyone have thoughts on this?
Great video. One thing now though that might need an update for anyone using Lifeproof -> You can and should use an underlayment and it no longer voids warranty if you use LIfeproof's underlayment.
ОтветитьNOOO quarter round! Tacky IMO.
ОтветитьAs this is a floating floor, I believe additional space is needed around the vents as well.
ОтветитьAlways remove!
ОтветитьCopper supervised her humans well 😂
ОтветитьPersonally I would use a 1/2” x 3/4” base shoe instead of removing all the baseboard. If you decide to remove the baseboard you then have two options. Buy taller base to cover the old paint/caulk line (which means painting all of that new base) or reinstalling the old base after skim coating (to cover the old paint line where there is going to be a ridge) and repainting all the walls. All of this is way more work than installing a simple base shoe which comes preprimed and likely only needs one coat of paint to finish it.
ОтветитьOne of the best install videos I have seen! Well done
ОтветитьAvoid mistakes or small cuts by snapping chalk lines to begin with showing the layout before putting a piece down.
ОтветитьMistake 11 - be careful of color variations by box in addition to pattern variations. Different boxes may be different lots and could be slightly lighter or darker than other boxes. This will be very noticeable if several lighter/darker planks and near each other, spread them out and not very noticeable. Mistake 12 - shoe molding is the correct term, quarter round vertical and horizontal dimensions are the same. Shoe molding is taller than it is wide and is the correct profile to use for floors.
ОтветитьThanks for this very informative and detailed instructional video. Great job! You convinced me to have wall to wall carpet reinstalled. 🤣🤣
ОтветитьPERFECT ❤ Very informative and useful.
